I started a new job this week, and one of my co-workers is pretty damn fine. i need some clever ways to find out if she's single! its my first week in this office so i can't be too brazen yet...

anyone got a funny one?

tell her you'd like to take her out to dinner for Valentine's day. see how she responds.

Seriously now, just interact with her. Introduce yourself, find out what she does. And a week or two later ask a bunch of ppl out to lunch and let everyone mingle at lunch.

I would just flirt with her and see what happens, if she responds back well she is either single or looking to get out of a relationship. Hope you get lucky! :laugh:

maybe at some places, but not at places I have ever worked at, I found that the workplace was awesome for getting dates and more. I would maybe check into the policies hapoo is suggesting, but if it's all good, hit it! :smash:

the place I work at, theres a lot of married couples. but they usually work different departments, never side by side. but still, kinda weird...

dude, give it more than 3 days before you start trying to dip the quill in the company ink. get situated, get into your job, get to know people, and let this girl get to know you naturally.

soon enough you'll probably be able to find out if she's single without looking like a total schmuck.

seriously, you're likely to turn her off and irritate your cow-orkers if you're trying to pick up a chick the first week you're working there.

:) thanks all. i don't have a problem talking to girls. i figure i will be there for 40 hours a week, all day every day and see diff. people all the time. I hope someone posts a funny story :)

its wierd being 23 and working side by side with older folk all day!! downright wierd. They talk about mortgages and kids and marriage. my group is young even, i work at a new group at cisco. wow what a change from college 1 month ago. even how to pick up girls seems foreign here ;-)

Ah . . . fresh out of college and first job? If ya ask me . . . definitely don't sh*t where you eat. At the very least, wait until you are a bit better acclimated with the workplace environment.

As others have mentioned, do NOT persue anything until you've been there a while - like 6-12 months. Even after that, I wouldn't recommend it if you work together, or even in the same department.

Too many things can go wrong & it could make life miserable for one or both of you.

I'm not denying that something nice can happen, but I've seen way too many situations that turned reeeeallly ugly when one of the couple decides they want to end it.

My workplace and my health club are like Superman's lair-- places for me to go and not be hassled (or to hassle with others). Keep the cruising elsewhere.

I think I'm the last college recruit in my company and I'm 27 going on 28. Since the dot.com bust we don't hire college people anymore. Only people with industry experience of 3 yrs or more. Everyone I work with is mostly married or engaged or Prego.

Maybe your company will hire a hot young intern or something. Or one of your co-workers can hook you up with their daughters that's your age. Still, you should wait a few months or more before flirting/dating with the people you work with.

Especially if you work closely together, day after day after damn day...

Never mix work and women ... two female friends from one of the dept. in the company I work for, almost had a fist fight on one of the after-work-in-bar-gatherings. They were trying to "determine" who should be dating a guy from their dept. or one one of them thought he was flirting to much with the other ... something to that extend (I never bothered to learn more than I know). But the girl that he ended up dating, had to leave the company and find a place elsewhere :)

Another thing, if something happens in your relationship in the future, in the best case scenario you'll have to see her on the daily basis in the worse - she'll file a sexual harassment at work lawsuit against you :)

Bingo This is the surest way to learn if someone is single or not. Plus in talking to them, you get the idea of their likes and dislikes.
