I want to get a mountain bike that will just be used for transportation around campus (I dont need shocks or anything fancey) but I would like to get a fairly nice bike. I dont want to spend much more than 250.
So far I am looking at the Diamondback men's outlook for $175.99 or the Univega men's rover 303 for $215.99 These are both using the 20% off coupon at bikeshop.com.
Does anyone have any info on these bikes or any others I should be looking at. So far I am leaning twards the diamondback just because they have been around for a long time and are fairly reliable where as I have never heard of univega before. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Well Univega has been out there for a while, my first nice bike was a Univega.... also my first stolen bike. I highly recommend the used marketplace and mtbr.com Before you buy any bike online however, I would go check out the model at a local bike shop. Prices are so much better online or mail order that is hard to shop at a lbs, but building a relationship with a good store is important. If there is something I can't fix on my bike that is the first place I will take my business. They also know the best trails in the area.
