Hi,
I have an AMD 2500+ and I don't OC. When I'm just surfing the web, or posting on GotApex, my CPU temp is 42.5 C. How hot does yours run?
Thanks,
Eric
PS: I'm using stock heat sink

I have a watercooled system and its temperature during normal usage is between 29 and 31C. Under stress it can get up to 34C depending on how warm my office is already.

I have the AMD 2500+ Barton core OC's to a 3200+ and it reads 46C right now. That's with a fan that doesn't run louder than anything else in my computer.

Mine too, and completely silent in my 400SC.

My beast is in the upper 40 degrees C....occasionaly gets in the low 50's....it's all good though, it acts as a heater in the winter time.

My baby is at 42C currently. I was thinking about maybe adding one more case fan if I have room for it.

98.6 degrees F / 37 Celcius, and purring away... :D
56 degrees C
I don't understand... I have a nice aftermarket HSF, thermal paste that I freshly applied a little bit ago, AMD Barton 2500+, and a nice modified Lian Li case with 4 intake (2 front, 2 side), and 2 exhaust (rear).
Why so hot!

my P4 2.4: 32-37 C, depending on ambient environmental temps, apps running, etc...
ski: AMDs tend to run hot in the first place. but then again, I always wondered if the mobo thermometer is properly calibrated. what type of mobo do you have?

Mine is currently 120 (48) because my room is colder, usually 138-140 (60), but when it hits that temp my room is well over 85 F.

AMD Barton 2500+, overclocked lightly.
33C at idle, 45-48C under load, depending on room temp.
One case fan, and a big honkin' heatsink. Runs fairly quiet.

Have you tried switching a couple of those intake fans to make them exhaust fans? You've got four fans pumping air INTO the case, and two fans pumping it OUT. You're overinflating your pc. :P
If you can, try running 4 exhaust fans and two intake fans. It may, or may not help.. but I've usually gotten more bang for my buck from exhaust fans than from intakes.

I used the stock heatsink and fan. No thermal paster just the pad. My 2500+ isn't OC and I get temps to about 50 degrees max I think. I got two intake fans but they are at the bottom on the side and I don't have an exhaust in the back b/c it's a 60mm hole and I have a spare 80mm fan. I think I'll just twisty tie it.

:stupid:
I have two intake fans (at the bottom of the case in the front)
two exhaust fans (one on top of the video card, one a little higher up) and then I cut out a hole in the top of the case and stuck a 120mm fan for exhaust out the top.

Any AMD under 50C is fine. You might want to review your airflow if you are close or over that.
If you are running over 50C you definately need to look at your airflow. Just having fans is not good enough. Changing your fans around can drop your case temp significantly. Ribbon cables are your enemy. Consider folding them in a way that will allow more airflow or replacing them with rounded cables. Make sure that the air coming off the cpu heat sink is leaving the case, not just being forced back into it. If you have a fan just blowing against the cpu fan all you have done is neutralized it. Blow dust off of your heat sink, it is an insulator.
Many thermometers built into motherboards are wrong. Check for bios updated and information on the reliability of your thermometer.
I have an ASUS A7N8X regular board. I'm getting my reading from the BIOS menu before I start up into Windows. Maybe I should try the Asus Windows program that came with it...
And I can switch the 2 side fans to exhaust :)

My CPU has got to be like a 8 or a 9 pretty smokin hottie. I do it. Oh, you meant temperature.....:D

I still have what looks to be room for 2 more fans in the front of the case. The spots on front have a filter in front. I guess I will look in to getting maybe 1 or 2 more fans to try and cool the case down. I already have 3 running. 2 in the back and one on the side. Anyone have any suggestions as far as one to get? I don't want to spend too much on them. Also I know that a few of you have said to turn a couple around, which one should I do??

Think in terms of airflow... the case will cool best if air is moving in one consistent direction, from front to back, or bottom to top, or something like that.
A bunch of random fans pointing in and out with no real path won't do much except create turbulence.
Come as close as you can to creating a little wind tunnel.

Ya. Use a fanned-out copper, passive job like Zalman made (and several copied) and a Panaflo L1 or Vantec "Stealth" 80mm case fan to blow air over it.

I've got the same CPU (definitely going to be an upgrade year) with an older Volcano (can't ever remember which one) which is pretty quiet. Before yesterday, I was getting into the upper 50s under full load, but now I stay in the low 40s. As I mentioned in another thread, don't neglect the quality of your power supply when considering your CPU temps. A new PSU has cut my CPU temps by 15C!

So true....my crappy power supply's (came with the case) exhaust air is WAY warmer than the exhaust from right by the processor and under load, that thing just gets hotter and hotter like an oven. Same thing happened when I built a computer for my dad's friend using a different (cheap) case/PS...the top of the case right above the PS would get HOT to the touch.

Me just surfing right now and it's 43 degrees Cel. :wow:
All my case fans are off and my case is 36 degrees C, CPU smart fan is on low and I need to dust. Damn remodeling has that white dust everywhere. Temps drop 10+ degrees when the fans are turned on at high speeds.
I don't like the noise unless I have something to counter it with. Thats why I want to go water cooled... I can mount the radiator right outside the case and oc with only an intake and an exhaust.. if that.
edit
Oh yeah, 1.8 @2.52ghz P4. TT 900 cooler/smartfan. Front/ side intake. Rear/ top exhaust. Exhaust on ps. All 80 mm fans.
Looking at the Globalwin silent stream water cooler for $85 shipped.

Ok so my CPU is running at 50C
and my Mobo is at 30C
i have a 1ghz athlon with a swiftech A462 heatsink on it...
Normal??
the results in the reviews with this heatsink are much better, like 34C

That doesn't sound too bad, I hear the t-birds run hotter than the XP's (verify, anyone?). Over the summer mine idles around there and I have never had any problem and the chip has been running like that (overclocked and torn up) very stable for a year and a half now.
