After months of craziness. I got a job with my room mates company, worked there for 2 days, got a call from the company in LA i applied for. Since then i've been back to LA for 2 interviews and today they offered me a package that I can't pass up. So hello So Cal. I'm driving back down tomorrow to do apartment shopping. Then come back up here pack and move down on the 23 of this month and start on the 26th. CRAAAZZZZZZYYYYYY

I know there are a lot of So Cal people on here, a couple quick questions...

Who and how much does cable in the Pasadena area? Also who is the cable/DSL provider in that area and how much. If anyone knows that would be great. Thanks.

My friends live in pasadena and have altrio as their phone, cable, and cable internet provider and it works out to like 75 a month i think. But i think you can do it individually with different companies and depending on what options you want, perhaps you can find it cheaper...

What part of Pasadena?

Cable in Pasadena is done through Charter or Altrio communications.

All the phone numbers you will need for Pasadena are here.

However, if it's South Pasadena, the Cable company is Time Warner. Time Warner's packages are better than Charter's, cuz their high speed internet does not have a cap on their speeds. From what I have heard from my friends there, they're hitting close to 3MB/sec.

Charter will run you around 60-80 bucks a month, depending on your Cable TV programming requirements and also your high speed internet needs.

Overall, I have been pretty happy with Charter.. for the most part. Aside from the fact that their basic cable channels and expanded channels are all in analog. (Even if you get the digital cable package.)

Thanks all. I appreciate the help. I'm still here and looking. Most the places i've found have been in South Pas. I filled out one application and what not. It is an ok place. A 1 bed 1 room for $875. But i'm currently trying to decide between a 2 bd rm 1 bath for 1200. That is a good prospect. I probably have to be heading back up north tomorrow, so hopefully my girlfriend can take care of the rest. The biggest problem is that the family that is there now is getting evicted, hopefully they will be out by the end of the month and i can move in. I'm thinking of putting my stuff in Public Storage, they have the deal 1 buck for the first month, but I cant find the disclaimer that says you have to rent min for xxxxxx months. Cause if it was really 1 buck for the first month, i'd be rockin.

I looked in to Time Warner, but they only offered Digital Cable, I really just want basic cable if they have it and the price isn't too different. I also haven't gotten around to looking for the internet yet. So we'll see.

Holy crap, my last apartment (it was really a fourplex) I paid 525 plus bills. 2 Bedroom, 1.5 bath, in a descent part of town.

My current cituation is 300 a month all bills paid. I live with 3 other guys in this tiny @$$ house (1100 squ feet). 3 bedroom (2 guys, borthers share a room), 1 bath, street parking, backyard with grass, pets allowed. It is a good deal but I have to deal with an 18 year old kid (one of the brother's, the otehr brother owns the house) who just got kicked out of his parents house and has no respect for authority, or any skills at anyhting.

Move to Los Angeles. You'll feel the pain some of us go through with lease/housing prices. :P

I have lived in NJ, Boston, Berkeley and Los Angeles and Los Angeles is by far the most expensive. My brother has lived in NJ, DC, Manhattan, CT and Palo Alto and I can tell you that Manhattan was by far the most expensive, with Palo Alto right behind that.

There are several markets that always seem to be expensive because of the extremely high demand.

Manhattan will ALWAYS be expensive with the amount of businesses in the city. Los Angeles housing demand does not seem to be decreasing and the number of residents is probably rising, so it is possible that the fate of the housing market will follow a path similar to Manhattan.

go for the directv if u can, not only is it cheaper 44.95/mo for 2 rooms, it's a cleaner picture and better customer service. and sbc is running a dsl promotion now for 26 or 29 /mo... just my .02

Welcome to the neighborhood, there are plenty of people around here that can help you out with area things. I'd suggest checking out the allsats deal for the cable/satellite channels :D

Thanks guys, so far things are good. So far my favorite things about this place is the weather.

On a good note I managed to cut my commute down from a nhour to maybe 30 min on a bad day.

I still don't have my own place. I'm bumming with my girlfriend. The place I was hoping for, the current tenents are being evicted, I was hoping they wouldn't be going to court, but they are. So I will either have to hope the court kicks them out, and they get the place cleaned up really well and quick, or i'll have to look for a new place. I won't have time for that until maybe April.

I'll keep my eyes open for the cable/tv deals.

Thanks guys, it's interesting, I don't have anything too bad to say except for the traffic, but seeing as how I cut my commute in 3rds who cares. I'm working in Downtown in the warehouse district. Ya, my spanish needs a lot of work.
