The New York Knicks have completed a three-way trade involving the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks, ESPN's Stephen Smith reports.

Atlanta center Nazr Mohammed and Bucks forward Tim Thomas will go to New York and the Knicks will send Keith Van Horn to Milwaukee. Also, New York's Michael Doleac and Bucks center Joel Przybilla will head to Atlanta as part of the deal.

The deal is expected to be announced later Sunday.

With the two deals, Thomas continues to sever ties with the Scott Layden regime. Layden acquired Van Horn in August in a controversial trade for Latrell Sprewell. Doleac was signed last year as a free agent.

Van Horn is averaging 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds in 33.5 minutes per game. Thomas is averaging 14.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 32 minutes.

Not Really sure how I feel about this trade. It does bring more size and athleticism to the Knicks.

geez, that trade is almost incomprehensible -- you need a diagram to figure out who's getting what.

New York gets: Mohammed and Thomas. Loses Van Horn and Doleac
Bucks get: Van Horn. Lose Thomas and Przybilla
Atlanta gets: Doleac and Przybilla. Loses Mohammed

ok, sorry, just have to figure that out.

i think Thomas is a good pickup for NY. good solid team player, not to mention that they rid themselves of Van Horn, who has seemed like a constant chemistry problem and somewhat inconsistent during his time in the league. i don't know enough about mohammed vs. doleac to judge that one.

not sure picking up pryzbilla was a smart move for atlanta, but hey, maybe it's part of their effort to clear cap space

If Thomas could just reach his potential it'd be a great trade for the Knicks. I guess Pryzbilla is in the last year of his contract.

that's an AWESOME deal for the knicks

AWESOME.

they get rid of van horn...
they get a good backup center to play when dikembe gets tired.

tim thomas still has a bunch of potential that wilkins/isaiah can do something with. playing with stephon will help him tons.

After thinking this over for awhile, anything that adds size is a plus in the east. Atleast the knicks will have a decent backup center.

but...all three teams are in the east...

Van Horn was putting up decent numbers so the trade is only good if one or both the players develope. NY had some interest in Nazr and Thomas has a nice upside with his athletism.

Either way it makes no difference in if NY goes deep in the playoffs this year. Stephons team now.

Its about building for the future. Plus, Rasheed is telling people that he's willing to sign for the veteran midlevel exception to come to the Knicks during the summer.

Figures after the trade, Tim Thomas plays 9 minutes and Mohammed never even stepped onto the court. I was kind of hoping to catch Thomas play a little more than that.
