I found this http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Brow...pe=1&Sku=554889 in this thread.
per the website and the bottom line is $89.99 after rebated. "Burn DVDs in all popular formats including +R, +RW, -R, & -RW It can burn at 8x and is called a duel format.
"Create your own home movies
Create, burn and copy CDs and DVDs quickly and easily with the included Pinnacle InstantCD/DVD software

Mo sole purpuse of thie is to copy home older VHS and JCV mimi that are digital. Is this a good route to accomplish copying my tapes? I looked into having them done and the cost for that is about $600 or $25 per tape to copy. Will this machine easily copy my tapes in good quality? I have a Dell 2.4 with over 500 meg ram, running XPpro Amy suggestions, The sale is over in a few hoursl Thank you

so any word on how reliable this brand is?
I picked one up yesterday, opened it in the parking lot. It was a magicspin drive. Immediately returned it. They also use optorite drives, which is what I was hoping for....but it was not to be.
How does one tell if it is a magicspin or optorite? Would optorite actually be printed on the unit?
Also, are magicspins really bad?

When i added the item to the cart and entered the coupon code, the cart didn't reflect the $20 savings, only the $40 savings was relected.

Supposedly, the optorite drives say HD Burn on the box. It's a feature that allows optorite drives to write twice the data to a cd-r, but only readable on an optorite drive. The magicspin drives aren't horrid, but nowhere near the quality of the optorite drives. I had a magicspin for a couple of days, they are very selective of the media they will write to. I had to return the media I had bought to use with it. Bestbuy currently has the Lite-on 8x dual format drive for $119 after rebate.
Thanks for the info!
I didn't know BestBuy had the lite-on drive for that cheap... They are unfortunately sold out, but I had really preferred a Lite-on...
I had already ordered the I/O Magic before I posted... Hopefully they'll give me the optorite! If not I'll just install it and see how it works and will return it if there are problems.
