I don't think so. It normally means that (1) they will give away tix that are open seating, no reserved seats, (2) they will give away more seats than the place will hold, so if you are not there in time to get a seat, if more people show up than seats you will not get in...your tix are not guaranteed a seat. They give away more tix than seats because usually a good percentage of folks who are given tix do not show up, so they "overbook" on purpose to get a full house.

I can see your points. However I think it would be better for people, instead of rushing to see who can post first, to take the time to confirm. In their posts they can also mention whether it works or not.

Another unfortunate side-effect of people rushing to post first is that we often have to scroll through several identical posts to go beyond or before them.
