Is your PC set to use DHCP?

I'm going to assume you use windows xp.
go to your start menu(or desktop).
rightclick network neighborhood -> properties
right click on the network adapter on the list -> properties
find tcp/ip on the list. click properties.
does it say obtain an ip automatically?

if it does, you have dhcp.
if it doesn't, click it so that it does.

then...cancel out of that.
cancel again, till you get to the list of network adapters.

right click on your network adapter again and click repair.
that will try to get you a new ip address so your router can talk to your pc.

tell us if that works.

Good job attgig, except that if he switches to DHCP then don't cancel out of it just click Obtain IP Automatically then OK so that the changes take effect.

Go to Start-> Run and then type msconfig. In the window that pops up, use the pull down menu to select your network card(will probably say something with 10/100). It should give you some TCP/IP settings. What does it say? If it says a number starting with 192 then most likely you are communicating with your router. If not, it might say a number starting with 162 or something, which means that it was assigned with Windows. Give us the info and that will help to break it down in either direction.
