Me and my friends are planning to build a gaming server. Does anyone have any idea on what I should be looking for?...to be more specific...what kind of mobo should i get? how much ram do i need? how much HD space should i have to run the server?

basically i can build a regular PC and run it as a server?...but it all depends on my connection?
just did a check on the upload speed. Upload = 216.19 kbps. is that good or bad? or is it decent.

- Any PC can be a server
- Older slower machines like DF mentioned are fine for game servers
- Sorry, but 216k upload is not enough to host a game. You'll have to limit it to about 4-6 people, and even then it'll probably be laggy. You want to be in the 1+Mbps range to host.
- You don't need a server OS to run a game server. However, if your system is older, Linux is a good choice since the overhead is a lot less than Windows

Usually pple run the game server on a T1 line.
