i am so bummed right now, because stuff was piling up and then michigan state, with a chance to clinch the big 10 title, lost to wisconsin tonight.
in general, school has just been really stressful, not to mention that i'm constantly missing my GF. this week has been particularly busy and i feel like i could sleep for about 24 hours straight.
then last night i was doing my taxes (so i could file my FAFSA) and discovered that i owe $1600 in federal taxes due to self-employment taxes. as a result, i'm probably going to have to pay late tax penalties.
so after all this crap i was just looking forward to sitting down tonight and seeing MSU beat wisconsin and win the big 10 for the first time since 01. but it was not to be. i mean, it was a great game and i have no complaints, except with the outcome. the fact that we lost our best player with 3 minutes to go in regulation didn't help, but we still should have won. no questions. but we lost. so the sunshine that i wanted to have tonight was snuffed out.
on a side note, i am SO pissed that msu hung a big 10 championship banner from the rafters before the game (rolled up) and had confetti and fireworks ready to go when msu won it. this is a clear show of arrogance and it just invites the basketball gods to smite them, and smite they did. it's the SAME freaking thing that happened back in 2000 (i think). msu is at home vs. purdue for the last game of the season. they've already clinched a share of the title, but if they beat purdue they'll get it outright. so what do they do? they unveil a banner BEFORE the game proclaiming themselves champions. and what happens? they lose to purdue by 3. do they not learn from the past? do they not learn that the basketball gods are not to be trifiled with? the basketball gods take the virtues of sportsmenship, humility, and patience very seriously. they will PUNISH those who flagrently disregard these virtues. so in the end, msu got what they had coming to them :(
