Sorry to hear about it, cf. A pair of nice hands would certainly do you some good.

Does it feel like the pain is coming from the shoulder joint? If so, you could be dealing with a touch of tendonitis. If you've done any overhead lifting that could have brought it on.

Don't overdo the Vitamin I. You really aren't supposed to have more than 1200 mg a day. I would suggest a visit to the doctor/orthopaedic surgeon.

...and of course the loving hands. :winkie:

take alleve - it's a specific anti-inflamatory...

sounds like bursitis - something in the joint is swolen..

^grampa :P

you need to be more than a weekend warrior, or go bowling occasionally to stay in shape.
excercise and you won't have so many injuries, aches & pains.

DF, I've been thinking about celebrex or something like it, I have arthritis in my knees, how well is it working? Lots of side effects?

Celebrex and VIOXX can cause stomach pain and gastritis, So you generally have to take them with meals.

But the side effects are worth the reduction in pain.

Pretty much I didn't notice anything unusual... it just worked. :D

Cool. I may have to see my Doc about that, my bones/joints have been killing me and no matter how much glucosamine/msm I take nothing gets better. Thanks! :thumb:

Which formulation of Glucosamine & Chondroitin have you been using? My Orthpaedic Doctor had me start taking this product (http://www.cosamin.com/consumer/CosaminDS_CE.asp) after my 3rd knee surgery (to repair a torn meniscus) and it has done wonders for me. Initially I was not doing well and was having a lot of pain and difficulty. My doctor then had me start taking Cosamin DS and the difference within 2 weeks was like night and day. After a couple months, I had very little if any pain at all. I've been fine now for the last few years and now that I have lost about 30 pounds, I have started running longer distances again (~3 miles, 4 days a week, dirt or asphalt only) without any problems.

Before you give up, try it. It is not cheap (at Costco it's $65 for a bottle of 220 - about 2 months' worth), but it made a huge difference for me.

Seeing as how I've spent $175 on pills to help me quit smoking, this seems like a good deal, but how soon did you notice any improvements?

I have the same problem with a torn medial meniscus and had an arthroscopic procedure done to confirm and cut off the messy parts. I still have trouble every once in a while and got exacerbated when I totaled my car. My doctors have told me glucosamine and such wouldn't help, but I'd like to hope I can run again.

I tried a liquid formula from Sam's Club. It wasn't that great.

I checked prices for Cosamin DS. Walmart gets $19.99 for 72 tablets while RiteAid gets $29.99. I am thinking of trying it.

I'm so stupid. I can't believe I asked a question he already answered.

Well what type of pain is it? Mine was a kind of pain that only hurt when I tried to lift my right arm over my head or across my body (basically it was a sharp pain right in my shoulder).

As it turns out, my Orthopedic specialist said it was arthritis in the shoulder joint... which after being treated locally with cortozone and celebrex, didn't require surgery to clean it out. Occasionally I get "flare ups", but honestly it doesn't hurt quite as bad as it did say 3 months ago. (it was so bad, I couldn't lift DFJ with my right arm...)

This (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/19614.htm) is what I currently have after I hurt myself in Judo the other night. Sounds like you had something similiar, but a bit more chronic?

I'm currently on Daypro for the swelling and Vicodin occasionally for the pain.
