Hi there.....

I currently have an Iwill KA266-R motherboard running a 1,4TBird Athlon processor, with 2x256MB DDR memory.

Now, I'm planning on using the program VMWare - )virtual PC's etc.) in one program and I've been advised to upgrade the memory to make more available to this application etc.

Thing is, I've not had much success with the Iwill site, or their tech teams - they have never replied to my 5 previous requests about compatibility.

The motherboard only has 3 memory slots - two hold 256mb cards. Will I safely be able to add a 1GB strip to the third one??

I understand (although may be wrong) that the system can support 3GB - does that sound about right? - THe system is about two-and-a-half years old now.

If anyone here has experience of the board\memory issue I would really appreciate some guidance with this.

Thanks all!

That's a good question. I think you can if the 1GB stick is in slot 1

Many thanks for the reply,

I have a link here to the Crucial memory website - paricularly for the Iwill KA266R. Before I go ahead and order online, can you please confirm that the 1GB 2100 memory (model no. CT12864Z265 for £102) is the right one - I ordered memory for this system once before (only 256mb) - and it was the wrong one. As they say - more eyes are better than two!

Cheers guys!!

doesn't the link say guaranteed compatibility? 2100 does indeed corrospond to a bus speed of 266. I say yes. I'd feel better if someone else commented on the ability to put in 3 mismatched sticks.
