lol. we're michiganders baby! we don't feel the cold. actually, we weren't outside for very long. it was a pretty warm day as you can tell by the melted snow by his feet. and the sandals? i was wearing sandals that day and he had to wear the same thing daddy was. :D

No... that wasn't an option where we went. We could have done another at one of those non-medical imaging places, but we have a friend who is an OB/Gyn who said that "the long term affects of ultrasound use is still not known". While it would have been fun to have, it's not something we wanted to mess around with.

We've got another appt next Tuesday. If Mrs. Paymaster is still pregnant, then they are going to talk about inducing.

Labor Starters (summarized)
WHAT WORKS
Accupuncture/Accupressure
Is it safe? Yes. Accupuncture can safely help induce labor, but get your physician's consent first. Accupressure is often performed at 40 weeks on the web between the thumb and index finger of both hands to stimulate uterine contractions. It can also accelerate slow or stalled labor
Sex
Is it safe? Yes, unless you have signs of infection (fever, pelvic pain), your water has broken or you are in active labor. Prostaglandins (chemicals that soften the c4ervix and initiate labor) in semen and the uterine contractions that occure with orgasm can help.

WHAT DOESN'T WORK
Bumpy car rides
Are they safe? No.
Herbal teas
Are they safe? Some are, some are not. Raspberry leaf tea is safe, but it won't start labor. Tea containing the uterine-stimulating herb black cohosh can be dangerous to the point that complications like placental abruption can result.
Massage
Is it safe? Yes. IT won't start labor but massaging the back during a contraction can help relax and open the pelvic floor allowing for an easier delivery.
Spicy foods/MSG
Are they safe? Yes (although MSG should be ltd). They don't induce labor.

WHAT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK
Breast stimulation
Is it safe? Yes. It results in the release of oxytocine, a hormone that brings about uterine contractions but it is impossible to say whether it can start labor.
Castor Oil
Is it safe? NO, because while small doses may actually be safe, women often ingest large amounts. The results can include dangerously precipious labor and delivery, as well as diarrhea, which can quickly lead to dehydration.
Primrose Oil
Is it safe? Yes. It is a supplement containing a fatty acid that the body converts to prostaglandins. Taken orally or applied to the cervix, it can help soften the cervix. You risk overstimulating hte cervix or uterus, but this is unlikely.

I was doing this and went to the doc's and complained of heartburn! she gave me something for it and stripped the membrane. Had Patrick the next day :)
