The "what's for dinner" thread got me thinking about dinner, and I don't feel like cooking. I want sushi and sake. :) I've hit quite a few sushi restaurants here in San Diego, but I'd like to hear what others recommend. Where's the best place to go?

Edo Sushi in La Jolla is good.

Sushi Ota in Pacific Beach is supposedly good too.

OMG so true, this place is small and crowded all the time but its worth the wait.
One time they screwed up on the reservations and they treated us with sake

I second Ota

If you want all you can eat...Mr. Sushi in encinitas on the corner of El Camino and Encinitas. Dinner is 25 bucks, and you can get a wide range of stuff, including Kama (grilled fish cheek) for free

The Japanese head chef is very funny

Thanks for all the suggestions! I love Sushi Ota, and you're right - reservations a must. On the bright side, I can almost see it from my house so for the impulsive nights it's always worth a quick drive by "just in case".

Ended up at Sushi Garden on Clairmont Mesa, it's actually quite good and the staff is friendly. Cold sake always a bonus. :) Will definitely check out Edo and Mr. Sushi, and thanks again for the info!
