One of the docs asked me to research a projector that he could wirelessly connect to and display his powerpoints. I have heard that there are 802.11b projectors out there but I am not sure if you can connect to them this way. I figured that they might have a little web server running on them but not sure how that would make it possible to run a powerpoint. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I was just looking for one the other week. They can't do full motion video at 802.11b, but for Powerpoint they are supposed to work pretty good. You just install software on the computer that is going to project to it. I think I even saw an attachment that you can add to any standard projector (by the VGA port).

Chad, that's just the info I needed. Our powerpoint presentations have video in them so wireless projectors are now not an option. Thanks much man!

I was doing the same research a while back & the ones where you transmit the signal to the projector wirelessly are absolute crap... all of the ones I tested looked like the picture you might get when you connect your PC to a TV. You can kind of tell what's going on, but text is horrible & fuzzy.
However, I just got some stuff in the mail from Epson about a new line of projectors they just introduced. Rather than sending the SIGNAL to the projector, you actually send the entire presentation & it runs on the projector (cool, eh?). That way it's still a wireless connection, but image quality is as good as if you were hard wired.
Thet have several different ones... have a look at this one (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=33498776).

That sounds pretty good. One thing I thought about doing was getting a projector with a RJ45 port and then just hook it into the network where we have our on wireless points. Any idea how the quality would look across something like that?

Have you looked into Linksys' offerings? They have a presentation gateway which you can hook up to a projector and run wirelessly - http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=38&prid=412, plus a presentation player, which can act as a gateway or you can upload you presentation directly to it and run it from there - http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=38&prid=503

I tested the presentation gateway - the picture quality is terrible. I haven't tested the Presentation Player, but that's the kind of thing you need in order to get decent picture quality. Anything that tries to send a VGA signal wirelessly will look like total crap. You need to send the PRESENTATION and have it run from the remote source.
