Major S: Strep Throat

Throat starts bothering me Friday night while my wife and I are at a concert (Indigo Girls at Radio City. Those chicks rock...but I digress).

Saturday morning I can't swallow (save your puchlines) and go to see my doctor. Tonsils so swollen they're rubbing on my Epiglottis. Quick test comes back negative for strep but I feel like crap. Fever, aches. Bad crap.

Woke up about 4 times each of the past two nights with night-sweats and still feeling like crap today. Go to see the ENT and he does a double-take when looking at the tonsils. Agrees with me that they should come out but not until the infection is gone (even without disease they're big). Gives me some industrial-strength antibiotic and some pain meds (very good I might add. Maybe I'll sleep tonight.)

This sh!t sucks -- feeling horrible and having to have my tonsils taken out at 38! OY! :angry:

OUCH-good luck-i had mine taken out when i was in my late 20's and that was bad enough-my voice has never sounded the same since..Oh, and btw-don't believe that crap about eating icecream-ICECREAM HURTS like hell cause its too cold-room temp or slightly chilled apple juice goes down the best-(I was stupid enough to try and eat a hot chicken wing a few days after surgery-that was SUPER DUMB MOVE!)

Hope you feel better. I had mine out two years ago (23 years old). It wasn't that bad, although I lost about 10 pounds because I just didn't want to eat! :)

Hope you feel better man. On the bright side you get to eat all the ice cream you want. As if someone's going to prevent a 38 year old from eating whatever he wants, but anyways, get well.

I just can't do anything right. I was home all week and come back to work today, the first day of the NCAA tournament. What an a$$hole!
