Asoft, lint free cloth and a little bit of water sprayed on it beforehand seems to do wonders for me.

tough to remove spots calls for some rubbing alcohol on a lint free cloth. Then i use predampened eyeglass cleaners. you can get a box at walmart for about $2.00

You need to get a product called iKlear, it does a great job, we use it on all our laptops. You can get it from Macresq.com.

OH! YEA!! Learned about the ammonia thing a while back with a CRT screen. Gentle cleaners are the rule here.

Also, do not spray any liquids directly onto the screen.

From a Mac website, but can be applied universally:
Q: Why can't I use a "glass cleaner" on my laptop's LCD display or Cinima display screen?
A: Don't make a $2,000 mistake cleaning your laptop screen with a $2 glass cleaner & a paper towel! LCD display screens are almost universally made of plastic. Plastics & computer manufacturers consistently do not recommend alcohol or ammonia - based cleaners. Repeated applications of alcohol on plastic will turn your screen surface "yellow", make it brittle and cause "stress cracking" (hairline scratches) on your screen surface.
