I received a $30 check from Oscar Casino at the beginning of July for winnings at their site. I deposited it into my savings account shortly thereafter and forgot all about it. I got a letter in the mail from my bank today, along with the bad check, stating that their account has been closed! The check lists "Bank of Nevis International LTD." as the payor and the account "was" with "The Bank of New York". On top of the lost cash, my bank charged me a $2 service charge for their inconvenince. Anybody else run in to any trouble like this? I know it was free money won, but this still sucks...

I think they charge the 10-20 bucks when you write a bad check. I've never heard of banks charging for trying to cash a bad check... I'm the kind of person that would change banks over something like that.

Hey SexMoo, Call them and demand your 2 bucks back, then open an account in a credit union or online bank. Don't forget, you're doing the bank a favor by investing with them. Screw them if they charge you these "service" fees.

Yeah, I gave my BofA rep an earful. They keep charging me $5.50 every month. I took a look at some online banks, and it occurred to me: why the hell am I paying a bank to borrow my money? Can anyone tell me that? I mean, what the hell is going on here? If I went in an told a loan officer I wanted $10K, and that I'd charge them $5.50 a month to take their money, they'd laugh me out of the building! I've since closed my account, and am making 5% yield with no fees at an online bank. It just makes no sense, unless you REALLY can't handle the inconvenience of mailing a cheque in once and while.

Humm I never heard of Oscar bouncing checks. I knew there was one casino but they made good on the checks after. I would call at 1-800-616-8770, 1-877-486-7351,
or 1-888-633-2128. Never seen a casino have 3 different phone numbers for the US before.

Call them up and chew them at. You may be able to get another check sent for $30 and I would fight for an additional $30 in my account to play with. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am waiting on a check from Oscar too. I emailed them and asked about your bounced check. Here is their reply:

According to the problem on bounced check from OscarCasino, we do concern
about this problem so much. Currently, we have been informed by our bank :
Bank of Nevis
International Ltd. that they just have received notice from their two
correspondent Banks- Bank of New York and Hamilton Bank that effective
immediately they can no longer provide Bank of Nevis with corresponding
banking services. They have indicated their action, with regret, but have
advised us that the unfortunate circumstances resulted from pressures being
exerted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
(O.E.C.D), the Financial Action Task Force (F.A.T.F.) and other
organizations in an effort to curtail Money Laundering activities. That is
why it caused the response from your bank as "Account is closed" which means
Nevis's account with New York Bank and Hamilton Bank were closed.

As you may be aware, several offshore centres have been classified as less
than cooperative at the International level in the fight against Money
Laundering. That means other casinos who use these banks will be have same
problem as OscarCasino.

Kind regards,
OscarCasino Team http://www.oscarcasino.com
