I am one half Irish. The other night, I was at a bar where there was Karaoke.
There was an older guy sitting at the bar who figured I was a tenor and Irish (after I sang a few songs).
He asked me to do an Irish song. I told him I didn't know any.
He was shocked, especially after I told him my mother had Irish roots.
He said that my mother would not be pleased, which I thought was amusing. I guess if Irish songs weren't so corny, I would sing them.

Clancy Lowered the Boom
(Johnny Lange and Hy Heath)
Chorus (audience)
Oh that Clancy
Oh that Clancy
Whenever they got his Irish up
Clancy lowered the boom
Boom Boom Boom Boom
Boom Boom Boom Boom
Clancy was a peaceful man
if you know what I mean
the cops picked up the pieces
after Clancy left the scene
he never looked for trouble
that's a fact you can assume
but nevertheless
when trouble would press
Clancy Lowered the boom
Clancy left the barbershop
with tonic in his hair
he walked into the pool room
and he met O'Reilly there
O'Raille says, "For goodness sake
now do I smell perfume?"
before you could stack
your cue in the rack
Clancy lowered the boom CHORUS
Mulrooney walked into the bar
and ordered up a round
he left his drink to telephone
and Clancy drunk it down
Mulrooney say's, "Who drunk me drink?
I'll lay him in his tomb!"
Before you could Pat
the top of your hat
Clancy lowered the boom CHORUS
O'Hallahan delivered ice
to Mrs. Clancy's flat
he'd always linger for a while
and talk or this and that
one day he kissed her
just as Clancy walked into the room
Before you could say
the time of the day
Clancy lowered the boom CHORUS
The neighborhood turned out
for Kate O'Grady's wedding night
Murphy says, "Let's have some fun!
I tink I'll start a fight!"
He wrecked the hall and kissed the bride
and pulverized the groom
before you could fling
your arm in a sling
Clancy lowered the boom CHORUS

Mrs. Kevster and I are going here (http://www.glenivy.com/locations/corona/index.asp) for the day since it is also our wedding anniversary, but this morning we went to Hennesey's in Hermosa Beach (it was PACKED).
As for Irish songs, nothing gets a pub crowd louder than this favorite of mine:
The Wild Rover
I've been a wild rover for many a year
and I've spent all my money on whiskey and beer
but now I'm returning with gold in great store
and I promise I will play the wild rover no more
And it's no nay never
no nay never no more
will I play the wild rover
no never no more
I went to an ale house I used to frequent
and I told the landlady my money was spent
I asked her for credit; she answered me nay
saying custom like yours I can get any day
And it's no nay never
no nay never no more
will I play the wild rover
no never no more
I lent from my pocket I took sovereigns bright
and the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight
she said I have whiskey and wines of the best
and the words that I spoke were to ya only in jest
And it's no nay never
no nay never no more
will I play the wild rover
no never no more
I'll go home to my parents, confess what I've done
and ask them to pardon their prodigal son
and if they'll forgive me as oft times before
then I promise I'll play the wild rover no more
And it's no nay never
no nay never no more
will I play the wild rover
no never no more
And it's no nay never
no nay never no more
will I play the wild rover
no never no more..

I miss St. Paddy's Day at school. Who went to school?, and by now (9:45), most of the school should be passed out. We used to lineup at the bars at 5:00 am. Oh those were the days.
