My buddy Gaemul has Galaga. A good game but I think he should have gauntlet. Any other suggestions?

I've got a Charlies Angels pinball from the late 70's thats pretty good. As far as a video game. I redid an old game cabinet and put a p133 in it to run MAME. They have cards that will emulate the keyboard when you press the buttons. It works well considering the whole thing only cost me about $500 and I can play pretty much any game I want.

that's a good way to go, for sure. i've seen some nice ones done that way.

if i were going to purchase one, it would either be galaga, ms. pac man, or heavy barrell.

I would have to say Defender. Ah memories of youth. After that I would love to have one of those two person shooter games.

as for using MAME... do you need to have a bunch of different joy sticks and controllers? Take a pic and show us

 Man I miss going to the arcade. Arcades have really gone down in quality and quantity. Game works and D&B are okay, but some etheral part of the magic of an arcade is gone. Dammit, I'm old.

i guess...but I don't think a trackball is a wise investment unless you really, REALLY, want to play games what require a trackball.

X-Men

If you've got the time to build the cabinet, I think that MAME is the way to go. If you are buying an older game, I would look for one with "simple" controllers. If a standard button or joystick is worn out, you could probably find a replacement. If it is some complex gun-turret thing, or has a lot of buttons on the joystick itself, you could be SOL if it dies.

Also keep in mind that these things are very heavy. I have a buddy that has to keep his in the garage because he doesn't have a way to get it upstairs to his game room (short of hiring professional movers).

maybe you could just mount one on each side and have the monitor swivel so you can just choose which side you need to be on.

Donkey Kong Jr, was the beast from back in the day, and Elevator Action!

But definitely if you have the room for it, 8 man Dayton would be quite nice!

Get a pinball machine. Although I have 2 cocktail Ms Pacs and a centipede. I'm a pinball person. You have to take care of pins which makes it a little more intersting. If you don't like working on stuff then get a arcade machine less maintenance.

Addams Family
Funhouse
Twilight Zone
Indiana Jones
Theatre of Magic
Getaway
No good Goofers
Road Show
Star Trek TNG

It is a close race between Addams and Funhouse for #1 both are extremly fun.

Just 2 weeks ago I purchased a Ms Pac-man, Operation Wolf, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I only really wanted the Ms Pac, but the guy was selling them as a group for a great price. I think I'm going to fix up the UMK3 and sell it to help pay for the others.

Street Fighter 2 ruled, man but I always loved the games where four or more people could play.

X-Men
The Simpons
Gauntlet (I and II)
Gauntlet Legends or legacy whatever it was called
NBA Jam
NFL Blitz
Even Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (was that what it was called)
All the racing games
and Rampage....loved Rampage too

I was just thinking about this last week. I would get Off road, the game with the steering wheels. Next I would get the tabletop ms. pacman. Then street fighter 2 turbo. The original one was cool too...anyone remember handcuffs, and invisible throws and stand up sonic kicks with fierce to reset the machine?

brainsmile
03-18-2004, 02:14 PM
yup... I remember all of that.

How about TMNT4 (Turtles In Time) or one of the Samurai Showdown games? Oh! And Metal Slug!!! (Metal Slug 4 supposedly on its way to arcades soon, and 3 making its way to XBOX shortly as well.)

I was always a big fan of the original Xmen Vs. Street Fighter. Well, the second revision of it, where they turned off Juggernaut's infinite juggle.

Before that it was definitely killer instinct.

In buffalo bill's casion at state line, Cali/Nevada border, they had 25 Daytona USA's linked up so you could have full on races. But they were still short races :(

The better one, was in pasadena at this arcade called PACMAN's, they have 8 cars linked together, and it cost 4 dollars, but it was an 80 lap race against the other 7 people or you could race the machine for 80 laps. It was a whole lot of fun. I think the races lasted about 25 minutes, so it was pretty darn fun.
