There's been a big place being built near my home that I pass by every day on my way home from work. I've been wondering what it was going to be. Well, today it had a name on the outside:
Fry's
I think I'm gonna like having it nearby. :D
psst: for those in the Chicago area, it's being built in Downer's Grove on Finley Rd just south of Butterfield Road.

You sure? You might eat those words sooner than later. I remeber my first experience at a Fry's way back when as a freshman in HS in Sunnyvale. Jeez, it's only been downhill from there. Even though there's so many of them that I've visited... All of them bite.

You'll like the selection and liberal return policy but that is all. Don't expect to be treated with any sort of basic human dignity at all. And do your research before going as the sales reps leave much to be desired. Oh and they love it when you ask them why they need your address and telephone number when all you want is to buy some memory. :hehehmm:

Hmm, I never noticed any hot cashiers. Unless old Indian men turn you on.

I was really stoked about Fry's coming to Sacramento, but after a few trips I changed my mind. I purchased a hard drive off-the-shelf, but it had a rebate associated with it. I had to put my name on a list and wait ~15 minutes to talk to a sales rep to get the form (which he then handed me in ~30 seconds).
*Then* I had to go wait in the huge common-feeder line to check out.

Sweet.
This is actually the second attempt at opening a Fry's in the Chicago area-- the first one was supposed to open a couple years ago in Palatine, but they backed out of the deal.
Whenever I'm in Scottsdale I go to the huge Fry's there. I never expect any kind of "service" at these joints, but I do okay with finding what I'm looking for.
In any event, it'll be nice to have an alternative to Best Buy and Circuit City. (Even though I seem to find myself here (http://www.abtelectronics.com) a lot for my non-computer-related electronics stuff.)

finally, ive been hearing stuff about a chicago frys for at least 3 years. my source in LV told me something about one planned for westmont, which would have been good for me, but i guess it never materialized. plus that would have been too close to microcenter and OD. i hope frys opens up a store in chicago too because downers grove is a little further than i want to go to shop

Nice! Is that where old CompUSA used to be? With Fry's and Best Buy right there, Black friday shopping is going to be much more hectic...
