My folks want to get a pug as a new pet since our old dog had to be put to sleep. Anyone have any input on this?

Yes, have them do the research of the care and temperament of the breed to make sure its a good fit.

Don't buy a new puppy from a newspaper ad.
Consider a pug rescue...you don't have to go thru puppy training and you can give an adult dog a good home.

they are ugly.
tell your parents to go ahead and get one if they want to have an ugly dog.

Haha... I'm sorry, but the raping pillows is an inside joke between freelance, cornmonkey, and myself. We used to be roommates. There is a reason why I moved out. :hmm:

Dude, pugs are cool. I'd get one if I weren't too lazy to wash in between the folds of excess skin, which reminds me now that I need to bathe...

I used to have a pug and would buy another one in a heartbeat, they are soooo cute, One thing you have to be careful of is the eyes my obe his left eye would pop out sometimes it is no big deak just pop it back in, they are great dogs, also a boston terrier is a wonderful dog my husband had his for 13 years when I went to have my baby that dog wouldn't sleep when we brought our daughter home he splet right by her side never leaving her like they had an instant bond he was perfect in every sense, but me I would go with the pug and black one at that

OMG that made my day. I pictured an eyeball springing out of it's socket. Boing! :heh:
My ex girlfriend is so obsessed with pugs that she has a picture of a pug tattooed on her arm. At first, she wanted a tattoo on her stomache that said "Pug life", like tupac's tattoo. I was trying to encourage her to do it, but she changed her mind.
She told me that one thing she wished she knew before she got the pug is that it sheds a lot. Pugs are a really cool breed though. They're so mellow.

I have two friends with pugs. Before I knew them I thought pugs were ugly, but really they're kinda so goofy that they're adorable. They both are very friendly, a good size, and hilarious to watch.

Uh... I don't like the idea of an eyeball popping out.

One day, I will have a pug.
I keep my eye on KC's pug rescue site (linked actually above) and I am waiting for the right time in my life where I can have room for one. Right now, we have a small petting zoo (snake, two cats, one dog, fish, bird) and there's no more room in the inn.
I think half our income goes to feeding animals (and that includes the kids).

they really are such a great animal and so gentle I must also say that his eye only popped out after he got into a fight with 2 pitbulls so that may have been the cause of it Right now I have a leopard turtoise adn love him!
