I had a very poor throw.

I was happy to be in the promotion, and I have all the praise for KGB for the opportunity....but this was one of those promotions where it was almost impossible to win. The rules were set by the insurance agency they used for the car...KGB pays some low fee (like $500) to an insurance company who sets the rules based on the odds....KGB doesn't have to buy the car even if someone wins it...the insurance company pays off.

You had to throw a nerf football from 35 yards into the open side window of a Mazda 6. The ball could not tounch anything before going in the window to be declared the winner. They even had a rule that required them to have the opposite side window open as well. If you got it in the window and it went through and out the other side you lose...it had to stay in the car.

My arm is not good so I was not even close.

I was notified during this past week. They called me in the evening.

It was a fun event...we go to watch the SDSU football game, then got to spend the 4th quarter of the game right on the sidelines watching the game, then the promotion, then the skyshow.

KCAL did a crazy win a hummer contest. Only 5 people out of 12 showed up for it. It was a golf contest. One was that you had to get a hole in one at 10 feet, then again at 20 feet and then again at 50 feet. You had to get it all three times to win and you only got one chance each time. Of course no one one (they haven't had anyone one in 5 years). The other contest was that you had to get a hole in one at 165 yards. Of course no one could do that either. They didn't give any prize at all. Not even a hat or t-shirt. It was a total waste of time and gas money getting there. :dead:

I agree KGB needs more prizes. Most of the time they have like 5 good prizes per month and they are gone in minutes. I like it when they have lots of something available for an afternoon like the free submarine tour plus lunch. That was a good prize and there was ample time to buy it.

I'd vote rock 105.3 as the worst points program. They never use to put prizes up. Now they put up a few things I don't want.

I was searching the cruise website and they still had quad suites for 1299.00 per person on down to quad interior staterooms for 599.00. Although KGB's site says it's for quad cabins, so what does that mean?

And the cruise is only down to Ensenada for 4 days and the trip only includes food, not drinks, which would cost you alot more than food since this is a party cruise. If you don't drink then you're ok.

And the cruise is in 2 weeks, probably not enough time to get 3 more friends and to get time off work for at least 2 days.

Still worth the trip if you can go and have the points!

I went on this same cruise earlier this year...without the music....just the cruise via Carnival......won the cruise from a local supermarket. It was nice and relaxing.

I am not sure I would enjoy listening to KGB type music for three days though. :) I like a nice quiet cruise.

It's funny - I like to think I have some touch with "today's music", but there weren't many on the list of performers that even sounded familiar... I'm NOT that old!!!

The other thing about the cruise is that it's being billed as a performing arts "event" - a kind of Street Scene meets Cirque du Soleil party. They're encouraging passengers to dress up and play how ever they want...

Maybe it's because they have already had some contests for this prize, at both KGB and some other of the Clear Channel stations in both San Diego and LA....these were a few weeks ago.

The surest way to find out would be to call someone in promotions at KGB at 858-292-2000.

However, briefly looking at the Xingolati website, the staterooms are either double, triple, or quad occupancy. The available "quad" rooms start out at $599 per person, so that type of stateroom would be $2396. Additionally, there is a mandatory $115 per person charge for tax/gratuity (total for 4 people = $460) which is to be paid by the recipient of the KGB prize. On board, you will definitely have to pay for alcoholic drinks, and possibly for sodas as well except those with meals... They usually have complimentary coffee, lemonade, punch, etc all day.

So 275,000 points for a $2396 prize seems about right, but again, a call to KGB would be your safest bet.

You can find the rules on the Blue Chip Page-But I can tell you that it 's allowed by KGB. My husband & I both have had accounts since the program first started....KGB is really pretty lax on their rules-they just want you to listen to their station. :wavey2:
