It shows that when you want something like this you need to do something different than everyone else to get ahead of them. I agree, this person probably got a whole bunch of people to join.

Someone in an office could do this really easy...find 20 people in a large office and ask them to all join...could do it all in a day or two.

Related to this...those of us who enter a lot of sweepstakes keep a list of 20+ names of friends with their email addresses to use in this kind of referral thing...having previously gotten their permission to use their name and email address.

I won a trip to the Super Bowl in Houston two years ago via a web site by entering my name each day for 2 weeks, and including a different set of 5 friends and their email addresses each day...the referrals had to be unique so I put together a list of 75 or so friends and email addresses so I had 5 new ones each day....and won.

The problem with that here is that to get your referral points the other person has to register. Clear Cahnnel can then see that your otehr email addresses have the same street address, phone, number, etc.

If you look at the Clear Channel operations set-up....it looks like they don't have any realy way to track everything.

Contrast that with Fox 6. When you go to pick up a prize they have it in the computer, what you won, when, when you are eligible again, etc. Same for KyXy.

It looks like Clear Channel never computerized this part of their operation...they are using paper records, not a comprehensive database.

Well, I didn't win, but as was the case alst year it was a lot of fun.

We all got a consolation prize of a KGB T-Shirt and a $7 Rubios coupon.

I talked to the KGB promotions gal.

1. I gave her our suggestion of them indicating how many points are needed for each of the items coming soon, so we know what it will take before trying our last minute bids. She said she understood, but the program is a set piece of software from Clear Channel and she can't change it to show the points value until the item is listed.

2. While all the Clear Channel stations are in the same building, the promotions people are not shared between stations...each station has their own.

3. The software program they are using makes the prizes available automatically. They set when they want the prize to become available, and automatically it becomes available at the set time, with no manual intervention.

As in the past, all the station personnel were very pleasant and easy to talk to.

Here's your problem:

CMySQL Error: Table 'master_reward_points' was not locked with LOCK TABLES

Apparently they're using MySQL for their database and they left out a table lock so someone else must have bought one and locked everyone else out from buying one (assuming there were more than one.)

Interesting, it is gone from Rock 105.3 as well.

It was there just yesterday at 105.3 because I used it to get enough points for the Motorola Razr Phone.

I think you're right, maybe we all used it too much, especially for getting referrals from people outside their listening area.

Casino Warns Patrons About Possible TB Exposure

SAN DIEGO -- If you spent a lot of time at the Sycuan Casino, you might need to visit a doctor for a tuberculosis test.

According to the San Diego County Health Department, a Sycuan customer was diagnosed with the illness. Anybody who spent a total of more than 120 hours at the casino last October or November should get a TB skin test, said health officials.

The health department said tuberculosis does not spread easily, so the test is not necessary for all Sycuan customers.

"Anyone who has been in the facility during that time -- if they are concerned, they should see their physician, but their likelihood of becoming infected was extremely low," said Dr. Wilma Wooten, who is a deputy public health officer for the county.

Wooten said that most people exposed to TB contract it, but she said that people may want to see a doctor if they exhibit any symptoms. Symptoms include a persistent cough, fever, night sweats and unexplained weight loss.
