Hope someone here has some experience/input into the ATI TV WONDER PRO capture feature. my specs:

Operating System - Windows XP
Harddrive - WesternDigital ATA100 7200RPM
VideoCard - ATi TV WONDER PRO
Current Driver Version - most recent multimedia center 8.8
DirectX Version 9
Processor - P4 2.4Ghz Dell 4500
RAM - 768 PC2100 DDR

This question is in regards to recording live TV/VCR input into Mpeg 2 (tried lowest resolution). The recording goes well for exactly 1 minute; afterwhich, the sound goes haywire - echoes, lag-delays then start to occur. The Video feed as well as the capture is however NOT affected.

I've updated the drivers, checked the sound card, check the wiring; is there a known software glitch or is my system possibly not set up to do this MPEG capturing. I would note that using the same ATI software to capture in VCD mode works impecabbly.

any suggestions are welcomed.

thanks,
des

mpeg2 encoding is much more demanding. I am guessing the problems you are experiencing are due to this. You experience no problems when doing a VCD since the VCD codec isnt as CPU intensive

Just an idea might help to use a 2 different HDs for your OS and Video Capture.

If the sound card is built into the motherboard that could be a problem because that uses the the CPU to convert th audio.
