Why are you allowed to post without providing a valid e-mail?

This really cuts down on the level of responsibility that people show. Notice the most stupidity comes from people without the little flying envelope? Why is it not a requirement to display this?

Well some people don't like to post their email address. You must give your email address to register for a username. That is how you get your password. If the user wants to leave it public they can or they can hide it.

I am not sure if the webmaster can view the email address or not. I believe they can.

Well, that's fine, I remember now, but I still think anonymity empowers one to be an idiot (NiceMann excluded, seeings as he also doesn't show his e-mail). If you're worried about getting mail flames, don't do anything to get flamed. I just don't understand. It prevents us from perhaps checking the validity of a person. Do you think Vadimr or whatever would have written some of the stuff he did if we had his e-mail? How about some of the scam-sounding people? I think it's a good idea, and certainly not an invasion of privacy.

Well I use to have my email address shown...but I started to get quite a few emails from people about gambling. Not that I mind answering questions just that I hate seeing it mixed in with my tons of spam. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Not easily faked. You have to have your password e-mailed to you, if I remember correctly. Plus, we can see when someone is faking it, like if they use spamhole or something like that...

i mean faked by having a lot of seemingly real email accounts but he probably does not check them or have a forwarding service that he will cut once he got what he wants.
