I was done in Feb. I get back a small chunk. Actually, let me rephrase that. I get back a miniscule piece, but then no complaints since I put in exactly that much.

I ended up owing the IRS +$600 :( I apparently didn't fill out my federal tax form right for my internship... no replacement digital camera that I had needed :bawl:

When I first did my taxes on TurboTax, I found that I'll be getting ~$600 from federal and ~$300 from state. Then, I find out that the internship that I worked for over the summer filed a 1099-MISC form, and not a W2. I actually thought I was being paid "under the table" while I was working there. The pay was lousy anyway, but i digress... So after factoring that in, I now have to pay the federal governemnt ~300, but i still get back ~$300 from the state, so I'm more or less breaking even.

Does that seem right? (oh, I made ~$3500 over the summer)

That sucks DFU, but at least you're not paying overall.

YAY $1500 back, and I already got my state refund back so only 1100 more to come my way.

That is a pretty big swing ($600 in federal tax) for $3500. I don't know how they could file your salary in 1099-Misc instead of W2.
