Beach Clean-up Day

For San Diego beachgoers the fun of running barefoot through the sand into an oncoming wave is no fun at all when there is trash in the way. Not only does the pollution pose a threat to beachgoers, but beach pollution is also a hazard to the plant and animal life living beneath the waves.

In order to thwart the dangers of beach pollution and keep San Diego's beaches beautiful, I Love A Clean San Diego is calling for volunteers to participate in a beach clean-up at La Jolla Shores beach this Sunday, 8/28 from 8AM - 10AM.

Beach cleanups like this one, sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union, benefit the community, the economy and the environment. San Diegans and tourists alike love our beaches; however, if they are littered with trash and debris it makes them a less desirable destination for both. Likewise for wildlife - a sea turtle may not know the difference between a jellyfish dinner and a plastic bag floating in the water. When we come together to clean up our beaches and waterways, we all benefit.

Registration begins at 7:30AM; beach clean-up from 8AM - 10AM. Sombrero Mexican Food will provide breakfast to volunteers.

The first 125 people who show up at the KyXy 96.5 booth to participate in the beach clean-up will receive a KyXy code card worth 25,000 POiNTS. NOTE: The first 75 people who register will also receive an event "Thank You" gift, including a t-shirt and other great prizes, provided by San Diego County Credit Union.
