Does anyone know what the parking situation is like for this Event today?
NORTH PARK FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
Now in its tenth year, North Park's annual Street Fair is the NORTH PARK FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS. With more focus on the arts the festival will now include a larger arts section including only juried artists. In addition, for the first time the festival will have a poster contest to have the poster be a true piece of fine art.
Lorelei

At other North Park events, parking isn't a big problem for me.
Even the North Park Street Fair, which closes Adams Avenue for about a dozen blocks isn't too bad: though I admit I do try to get there early, and I don't mind walking a few blocks. This Art Fair sounds like a MUCH smaller event, so I wouldn't worry about it over much.
Best of Luck. Let us know how it turns out?
Oh, P.S., I just remembered: there is a new multi-story pay PARKING GARAGE just off University (on 30th?) across the street from the reopened North Park Theater. There is also a pay lot directly behind the North Park Theater.

Oh, I must have meant the Adam's Avenue Street Fair: that's the one that closes Adam's Avenue for a dozen or more blocks with 6 different band stands and lots of food and tschochkes for sale.
It's in September. Good party!

Enjoy the trip! Walt Disney Pictures "CARS," is a high octane adventure comedy that features a wide assortment of cars as characters who get their kicks on Route 66. Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies. In addition to Paul Newman, the voice cast includes Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, and NASCAR legend Richard Petty.

I was at the KyXy radio remote event on Saturday at Grossmont Center and got to have a chat with the promotion folks.
I was told they have purposely cut back on their points program...
1. Last year between their raffles/sweepstakes, auctions, call-in, etc. prizes they had so many prizes they couldn't manage to keep track of them all. So, this year they have fewer prizes.
2. Last year they scheduled the availability of prizes out for many months. This year they only schedule out a month or so.
3. They don't have any trip prizes yet this year because the sponsors have not provided any.
4. They don't have so many events with big points available (like 35,000 points for a new bank opening like they had last year) because too many people then had lots of points they saved up and didn't use.
I am still wondering if this reduction in the program is really a planned thing as above, or really a result of someone leaving the marketing/sales department as we had heard, and as a result they just could not handle such a big program anymore with a reduced staff.
The event they held on Saturday was loaded with prizes, including a new car. So, maybe they will have more of these kinds of big events, and fewer of the smaller events.
dogopoly

4. They don't have so many events with big points available (like 35,000 points for a new bank opening like they had last year) because too many people then had lots of points they saved up and didn't use.
In case they're still watching, I'll give my opinion here:
a) When there are not a lot of interesting prizes, you don't spend your hard-earned points.
b) When you can't win an auction (because it's just going higher than you think it's worth) you won't spend your points.
c) When the outright purchase of items is too expensive, you won't spend your points.
d) When other programs, like Couch Potato, offer similar things (like movie passes to Cars) for only a few thousand points, why spend 40,000 at KYXY?
Basically, their success is also their downfall. By offering lots of good prizes, they got a lot of people joining. When more people joined, they couldn't keep up with all the prizes and people accumulated more points.
Now, by cutting out some of the point opportunities, people will stuggle to get points for certain things, get frustrated, and leave the program for others that offer more prizes. (They're not there yet, but seem to be going in that direction.)
Ultimately, if you can't spend points on things you want, the program is not worth your time.

I agree.
Maybe, what will happen is that it will all shake out over time....they'll reach a manageable point, they'll feel comfotable with the level of activity they have to manage, they'll get some new sponsors, and we'll be left with fewer people to compete against. I say give it a year to see.

:smash: I also agree-the auctions on KYXY, however, with point values of 40,000 to see CARS-just shows some people have been LOYAL listeners for QUITE some time, accumulating many points. BUT-at least KYXY has several opportunities to AUCTION for them. STILL, I think kyxy offers MUCH better prizes than, say-FOX-which for the most part-only offers MUGS and BUMPER STICKERS-of course their $25,000 raffle prize every 6-9months or so-but that is like the California Lotto-NOT MUCH CHANCE OF WINNING:bonk:

I had a conversation with Promotions and they told me they "were trying to tidy things up a bit". They had so much stuff on the auction block at one time that members, myself included, had bids on some things up to about nine months away. So they did some early spring cleaning. Now KYXY will add things as they go, instead of having all piled and backed up for months.

Ok, to show that we are not completely inflexible, you may copy/paste the prize postings and winner lists. AS LONG AS: They are current (who cares about who won 2 days ago or what the prizes were then?) and only posted ONE time. No need for confirmation to those. If anyone has a question about the info, they can then go to the website and look themselves. We are trying to cut down on clutter, which is why we have made the new rules, but again, we aren't completely inflexible. ;) Feel free to PM with any questions.

As Paniolo pointed out, they decided that we were having too much fun here with the radio/TV stations set of threads so they changed the logic just for us to not increment our message totals, just on the Region Specific Deals area.

Yes, Itsme was the one that PM'd me regarding this change early yesterday. It seems to me that this could have resolved a lot of the GAMs issues with over-confirmations, neffing, personal comments/remarks, etc., etc.....if they had just implemented this first. Then it would have just required the one new rule of not using more than one of the "too big/over emphsized/colored/font" choices.

Call me stupid, but why make all these rules when THEY control the website? If they don't want us to use "too big/over emphasized/colored fonts" then why do they make them available to use?
LOL: It reminds me of God in the Garden of Eden: "Ok, see this attractive tree here? Just don't eat this fruit, Okay?"

Look people, we are human. If we'd thought of this first, sure, we'd have done it. As it is, with this done, we don't have to be as strict with the rules, because neffing isn't as worrisome. So be happy! If you want to see your post count go up, join us on the rest of the forum. None of us want to see this forum go down like the Political Forum, but keep complaining and it will.
If you have a problem with it, please feel free to PM me and we'll talk about it. But let's get back on topic here so as not to annoy other users.
This is not directed at a single person, so no one get their panties in a bunch because of it. ;)

Sure, over-posting is a problem-BUT the ONE thing that we like is to be able to TRUST people that post-some of this trust is based on the STATUS of the poster, ie-the number of posts. However, I guess this could be misleading as well-I guess we'll learn to live with the new rules-as I'm sure NONE of us want to see this forum GO DOWN.
thanks GAM, for your patience.
