Double-confirmed...amazing that Radio Head can get it right so much earlier, but i still wouldn't enter it until they announce it. For one thing, the rules discourage guessing, and if they didn't announce it on the air then it would be considered a guess 9eve if it's right.)

It is always 5 O'clock SOMEWHERE in the world! Online listening rules!!!

Although it's "always 5 O'clock SOMEWHERE in the world", this program is only open to San Diego County residents.

# General Program Rules:

* must be at least 18 years of age or older
* must be a San Diego County resident
* must have internet access to participate
* must have a valid e-mail address
* must be fairly computer literate in order to participate - someone else may not enter information on your behalf

AND......

# Performing Required Tasks:

POiNTS are awarded for performing required tasks. "Guessing" answers for tasks that have not yet occurred (i.e. "guessing" the artist name for the "All Music Hour @ 5" before it actually airs) is prohibited and will result in a forfeiture of POiNTS and in some situations a POiNT "penalty" deduction to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

The big deal is that in the past they would cancel people's accounts for doing such things. They've been lax for about 18 months but that doesn't mean they won't change their minds without notice. Then all your hard work collecting points does down the drain.

You're certainly welcome to choose your own rules and hope they match what KYXY THINKS the rules should be (I think they have a clause about it being their program and if you don't like what they do to you then you can quit.) Even if your rules are "right" does not mean that KYXY will accept them.

BTW
Thanks for letting us know where you got the codes so we can use at our own risk. :)

Nobody asked, but my opinion...KyXy has sweepstakes, auctions, trade-in's, contests, remote broascasts with drawings, surveys worth points, birthday giveaways, trivia worth points, etc....with many, many prizes of all values...from DVDs, to tickets, to travel.

Considering that they lost most of their staff last year and had to re-build the marketing department I think they have done a great job and once again have one of the top programs, prize wize.

That said, I think it is in bad tase to openly try and scam their system, lest they decide to give up on giving prizes.

Yes, I too participate in sharing codes, and they don't like that. But, that's as far as I want to go...I'll not try to find ways to put entries in at wrong times, or find other ways to cheat, etc.

MrsDandridge

Here is my 2 cents.....

It would be very obvious if 100 people did it 6 hours early. Waiting till 5pm probably would be the wisest move for everyone.

And, I am not trying to cheat any system here.

Well, the Inspiration Cruise is done! The silent auction items went anywhere from 300,000 points to 1.5 million points! I spoke with one of the winners and he advised that he only used half of his points (900,000 points) for the auction.
The light snacks consisted of, one per person, Hot Dog, Chips, Salsa & brownie. The soft drinks were free as well as the Cold Stone Creamery sample cups. The cruise was really nice even though they did not setup enough tables & chairs for all that attended. Glad I went, great way to spend an afternoon, could have been a lot better... :disa:

I really enjoyed the company, and met up with several people that I know.
I really loved the *idea* of the cruise (with auction) but there really weren't enough things for us to enjoy that part. The cruise itself was decent, but not spectacular. However, the weather was awesome. Beautiful and sunny on the opt deck with a light breeze.
(Oh, and I saw one auction for 1.6 million.)

I hope KYXY has more of these (not necessarily just cruises), but I also hope they can offer more things next time besides hot dogs and a few auction items that I'll never be able to afford.

The ship was beautiful, but the food was embarrassingly poor. Anyone who is on even a moderately healthy diet was skunked. Hot dogs and chips? My son called it a grade school field trip lunch. KYXY had a wine tasting tour last year that was SO much better!

I also agree that the idea of the private auction was cool, but there were not enough items to bid on, and if you did not have at least half a million points you were out of luck!

Still, the lovely weather, beautiful bay and fine company was worth the time spent.

I agree that the prizes were pretty lame for the most part. Like others have said, the most expensive prize that went for 1.5-1.6 mil was a 1,000 certificate from Balboa Vacations, which MIGHT just get you 2 round trip tix to somewhere. Since Mary fled to Clear Channel, the prizes there went through the roof while KYXY went into the basement. But free is free right? And what was up with those kids snack packs anyway? Would have had better food at the ballpark!

mamasterls
09-09-2007, 11:48 PM
But free is free right?

Until you have to pay the taxes!;)

Good point (no pun intended)...once Mary left the prize selection, affordability and quality dropped significantly.

My dad served 27 years in the Air Force and saw his share of battles and my brother served 20 in the Army and was in the first desert war. My 23 year old son is in his fourth week of Marine bootcamp and I imagine, will see his share as well.

I too encourage those who are of like mind to fly their flags as high and as proud as they can to let the world know we have not forgotten and that we are still as strong and patriotic as ever!!! I know my home will.

Have a great Monday everyone!!

They could, which is why we like confirmations from trusted members when possible.
However, at the moment KYXY doesn't seem so concerned about this board (but that doesn't mean it won't change tomorrow!)
The place to watch out is any of the ClearChannel stations: Star, KGB, Rock105, 95.5, etc. where they may even shut down your account if you transpose a word by mistake (well, not really, but they're definitely harda$$es about many things, even those that have nothing to do with this board.)

6 years and never forget! The cruise was a blast, but there could have been more prizes and maybe even a special code word for us! I didn't think the "winning" bids were overpriced, not with what goes on on the regular bidding. Congratulations to the winners of all prizes and that includes anyone who got to go on the cruise, because that was a prize in itself!
