This may seem like an odd question, but once you were out of school (no matter what level), how do you or did you meet new people?

Now I am not referring to meeting women, I just mean how do you meet people in general. Obviously, while you are in school meeting people should not be an issue. Once you are out of school though, I have found that meeting new people is a very different animal altogether.

I have found, unfortunately, that since graduating when everyone went their separate ways that I really have not made many new friends or acquaintances. I have lots of friends from growing up, college, and law school, who I speak with on a regular basis but none of them live closer than 2 hours away at this point.

So where do you meet people?

That gets me one of two things....one time both. I either get women or I get police officers.

Maybe join a softball league or something like that. Whatever sport you like. You'll meet people through that.

yeah me too...i've found the exact same problem...I mean the people I work with are usually much older than I and are family people...I haven't met anyone outside of work and I don't even talk to coworkers outside of work.

I'm with Canta about the softball league. A lot of 20-something's play corporate softball leagues that you'll be able to hang with.

Yeah, this is one of the most difficult things that I have found. I don't really have an answer for you. I really only have one or two friends, and they're not really even "friends" at that b/c we rarely talk, you know? Whenever I meet new people it's usually through my boyfriend or thru the friends I have now. I also work in the industry wehre there are a lot of people my age being serviced (I work in a salon) so it's cool to talk to them to get conversation at least, you know?

1. My job involves a lot of meeting new people. So I not only meet co-workers, I meet friends of co-workers, customers, etc.

2. I coach youth sports. If you coach the youngest age group, you meet parents who are around your age. Plus, it's really fun and rewarding to teach kids how to play sports.

3. I play on a men's flag football team. Most of the guys are really cool guys just out to BS and have fun. They're an excellent drinking crowd.

4. I haven't done this one, but you can join any kind of class and meet new people. Latin dancing, painting, kayaking...quilting?

yeah, i do a lot of "other" activities.

i swing dance, play vball, coach vball, go to networking events...etc.
