Laptop Battery Question

In regards to laptop batteries, if the battery is fully charged, is it best to run the laptop off the battery until it is empty and then fully recharge like a cellular phone?

I.e. - If I am at home, should I just leave the battery in and run off the home power or will that burn out the battery like a portable phone.

it depends on the battery type. if it's lithium ion, then it doesn't matter. that goes for any type of device.

I usually run my laptop on AC so I remove the battery. When I use the battery, I unplug the cord.
