And very excited to start over. I live in MN now and would like some help from any of you that have moved. Anyone have any suggestion on the cheapest route to take for cross country moving?

I just got back from Phoenix to check out the Padres. I liked it, although it seemed like every mile or so on the freeway there was a crash. However I would consider moving there someday, since I am from the desert anyways.

That wasn't your question sorry. Did you get transferred or are you coming on your own? `

If anything, buy an american car when you move to places like AZ. If I were to move to a desert region, I would. You need every last ounce of AC power (and cars like the Malibu and Taurus generally tend to have good AC systems vs. European and Japanese cars) you can get

A Friend of mine bought a really nice place on a golf course and of course we both happen to be avid golfers so I decided to transfer with my company and give it a try.

My question was is there anyone or anyway to find a great deal on a one way move? The best I have been able to find is about $1300 for a 15' truck from minneapolis to phoenix.

Good luck!

Thanks

My friend is selling me his Eclipse when I get down there. Should be good enough to start anyways.

what part of AZ you moving to?

Laveen AZ which from what I can gather is in the southwest suburbs of Phoenix.

Can someone hook me up with ideas on how to save some money getting down there or should I post in Need Deals? LOL

Swimming pool count?

I got friends who have moved or are planning to move to AZ from CA. They say the river aint too far. Havasu and all that stuff... Thats what I was talkin about. Land prices have been skyrocketing in a lot of places due to development and a lot CA'rs moving out there.

it's hot as pi$$ out there. i can't imagine living there may-oct. i like sun as much as the next guy but when the rocks are going "dayummmmm...it's HOT" you know humans shouldn't be there.

You get used to it. As long as you have AC it's all good.

I'm from Minnesota so I'm used to extreme temps just the other way.... -45 below this winter at times.

Aren't you cooped up in your office Monday through Friday anyways? Don't get me wrong it can be miserable during the summer but you can still function, unlike the opposite end of the spectrum where there is snow all over the place. Atleast you can drive in the heat

yeah but i go biking in the evening because it's daylight until 9:30 or so in the summer. you can run after work.

i do a lot of stuff outside in the winter. shovel, push my car out of the ditch, etc. lol. i actually snowboard 1-2 times/week in the winter. i love the cold part of the winter. the warming up part sux. where it's in the mid 30s-mid 50s. it's rainy and gloomy. at least when it 10 degrees, the sun is usually out and you can go outside.

A few words of advise. Stay in the shade!!! My cousin, who's as white as they get for Asians, got a 3rd degree burn her first year in Arizona when she was studying for her masters at Tempe. Since you'll probably be enjoying the golf courses, I recommend a lot of shade.

What I'd really recommend is to stay away from Arizona. I hate that stinking place as much as I do Utah. Those two states just don't vibe well for me. Great vacation spots, but that's about it.

Thanks for the advise but I think I'm going to go either way. I am the fairest of white boys but I do tan well so we'll see. Any great deals for cost saving?

Bah! I live in Phoenix and I don't mind the summers. Anything under 107 in the shade is fine. It's the July/Aug thats pretty unbearable. I also lived in MN for awhile and I'll take a blast furnace over a steam-cooker with mosquitos any day.

Laveen is kind of an interesting place. It is right next to downtown Phoenix, but still a lot of small farms/agriculture, but a lot of new home development is going on.

Plus if you are a golfer, and can take the heat, you can get unbelievable green fees w/cart from May-Oct.

Thanks dbax791. I can't wait to get down there, it's just getting down there cheap is the problem.

Laveen should be a pretty nice place from what I understand. My buddy is building in a new development and it looks like a great place..

I think I'd like to try living in AZ, probably around tucson. Clear skies, good weather, nice scenery. I just might try it someday...
