Check this site out...
Just type in a band or musical artist and you can see what other bands they sound like or are related to.

I entered "Soluna" and it thought I entered in "St. Lunatics"
Yeah, Soluna isn't really rap music.

Over all, it's a good idea. However, some of the "similar music" is way off.

Pretty cool. They had some obscure bands on there I wouldn't think they had. Some of the bands are definately not-so-similar but I think the farther away you get from your original bubble the less connected they are.

i thought it was pretty horrible.

for example, you type in green day. does it pull up the ramones? does it pull up the sex pistols? does it pull up the clash? does it pull up any of the seminal bands that clearly influenced green day? no. it brings up the white stripes.

that is just wrong.

another example: type in dr. dre. it should be a slam-dunk to show NWA as being directly connected to dre. however, NWA isn't even mentioned.

overall, an interesting idea, but either it is severely lacking in information or else the database is just not set up to accurately catch the relationships between bands.

Look up Devo - connects directly to Madonna...?

They don't even have Ebn-Ozn in the database!
