I wish I was off today for moving. I get to try and do most ofit this weekend. Thankfully, there isn't TOO much stuff, and i'm only moving next door. :D

I think it sucks that we *do* spring forward/fall backward. It just messes up your brain for a week, twice each year. Anyone know the actual motiviation for this? Who exactly is saving daylight? I would rather live in one of the states that doesn't change.

The logic is that we can make better use of daylight from 8:00-9:00pm than we can from 5:00-6:00am (and I tend to agree).

i freaking hate daylight savings time, particularly the "springing forward" part. the last thing i need right now is to lose an hour of sleep. i'm exhausted enough as it is. bastages.... :(

The time change is great now I can hit the beach and go boogie boarding after work and there will still be light for a few hours!!!

When I was in NZ, we fell back one hour on the 22nd (remember things are reversed there) and now I'm going forward again....sweet...I think overall I'm gaining something over others.

No, they don't change times in Korea. As for always staying on it, then you get wasted sunlight on the other end, and it's darker in the morning. The idea is to limit the amount of electricity you use, so that you save on resources. Which reminds me that I need to turn off my light since the sun is shining.

During the energy crisis (it was either 1973 or 1974) that's what they did. But the problem is that it would be dark when a lot of children are going to school, which is not such a good thing.

Time is by government. Legal time is entirely a political function, though most governments are smart enough to set themselves to practicality.

Though technically, you could have a government set themselves to 5 and a half hours off of what they really should be, it'd be pointless since the people would probably end up just living off of some other clock.

So in answer to your question, PST is set as adhering to the standard American DST adjustment, and the Korean chooses not to live off of the adjustment. Nor does Indiana and a bunch of other places for that matter.
