Hi all,
I'm looking for a decent TV card that comes with remote control. Since I've had pleasant experience with my Radeon 9700 card, AIW 9800 is on my list. However, I've read a lot of feedbacks indicating problems. Is there any other TV card that you would recommend? While the PVR-350 looks pretty good, I've also found a large amount of negative feedbacks regarding the supporting software. I have P4 w/HT. Thank you.

The Asus one is pretty good (I have one). I saw an ad somewhere, in which the AIW Radeon 9600XT on sale for $299.

i have an AIW 7500, haven't had any problems...one of the first ones with a remote. the remote works great, kinda like a wireless mouse at times, but even still. i've had this for a couple of years and haven't had any problems.

A general problem with TV card seems to be on the supporting software rather than the hardware.
DF,
I read some feedbacks from newegg and this TV card seems to run only in full screen, not in a sizeable manner.

Not sure about the current cards, but last year people really like that Leadtek Winfast (?) card. New egg had em from $42 - $5x and sold tons of them. I believe you could change full screen mode etc. There was a huge thread on it at AT.

awesome, guys. I think I'll just pick up the ASUS card.
chosen,
Is there any particular reason why not to pick the AIW? Thanks.

DF,
Thanks for the reply. That certainly makes sense. :)
bachviet and everyone,
I think I can trust bachviet on the ASUS software based on his rank. :p What software would you recommend to go with the TV card? I can still get the ASUS TV card but just couple with different application. Thanks!!

/me wonders if they are cuttin' costs by removing the software (if that is the case...)
But yeah... PowerVCR II is da Bomb... or DScaler, although I like the scheduling parts of PowerVCR II. :D

EDIT: bachviet, where are you getting your info from? I just checked the Asus website on this card and here is the included bundle: http://usa.asus.com/products/vga/tvfm/tvcard-accessories.htm
ASUS FM Radio
ASUS EzVCR
ASUS Video Security
Power VCR II
Eelectronic Program Guide
Power Director Pro
Media Show
Power DVD XP
I'm like... dayuum, what else do ya want/need included?
I just got the Asus card from newegg couples of months ago and it doesn't come with PowerVCR II. It comes with some kind of Asus software, which only runs in full screen.

Quick question. http://usa.asus.com/products/vga/tvfm/tvfm_l.jpg is posted at ASUS website and it's different than the one on newegg http://images10.newegg.com/productimage/15-116-508-02.JPG. What's the deal here?
chosen,
Whenever I typed "TV" in the search field, it always said it's below the 3 letter limit. :P Thank you for your links. They are helpful.

Well for starters... after the board got nuked by hackers, Chosen and I lost ALL of our posts... so searching for them won't help anyways.
Looks to me like Asus as revised the card (version 2.2) on their website. But either way, that card should still work out fine since they both have the same TV Tuner chipset.
If you notice on the Newegg site it says... "specifications subject to change without notice".
Pretty much this is still the TV tuner to get. :thumb:

Hey DF,
The ASUS one has 3 more input/output than the newegg pic one. That's why I'm confused a little. Thanks for the words. I'll order mine tomorrow. :)
The newegg one and the one on Asus's site are identical in function and inputs. The only difference is the Newegg one is low profile, so the majority of the inputs are on a breakout (much like the original Cognexant CX chipset based Asus TV880).

Those are the CDs I got (no PowerVCR II).

They must be keeping the PowerVCR II for themselves then.
Still... it's probably the best card smokin' at $37 - $52. I paid about $70 for mine (that came with PowerVCR II 3.0 standard)

I have another question regarding the ASUS cards. Though they are all ASUS TV FM card, I found some use PHILIPS SAA7134HL, and the other use PHILIPS SAA7133HL from different online stores.
After digging into philips website, the only differences between 7133 and 7134 are 7133 has BTSC (dBx) plus SAP; EIAJ, and volume, bass, and treble control but lack of FM A2 and NICAM. 7134 has FM A2 and NICAM while lacks of others (only volume control, no bass or treble control).
So is there any advantage of 7134 over 7133? TIA
