is there a FW800 enclosure that does S-ATA drives?

im seeing a lot of the usual enclosures using P-ATA drives, and some using FW800. im curious to kow if any enclosures out there support S-ATA drives.

anyone know of any? TIA!

if there isnt any, i may explore using a FW800 enclosure for my raptor drive, using a SATA to PATA adapter.
im still coming up with NO luck on native FW800 SATA enclosures though...

I don't think it's a good idea to use the adapter. If I want to use SATA, I just use the MB connection.

it allows for an external sata connection. They make PCMCIA adaptors for this. They dont have any SATA to FW800 enclosures that I am aware of. This is because ATA100 is about the same performance of FW800. SATA is 50% faster, but this speed will be lost due to the FW bus.

The 10k RPM drive will help seek times, but again, you are limited to FW800's speeds.

I would be hesitant to use external SATA. I have never heard of any other company using external SATA drives.

that drive is an external sata drive. It uses an external sata port, not a USB port.

Yes, you are right. I found this in the latest article in PC World pertaining to external hard drives. I didn't even know that there was such a thing as an external SATA port. NEAT!!
It has a very high transfer rate, though.
