power management question?

hey guys, my power management is all outta wack, since i have an lcd, i had it set to turn off the monitor after x amount of minutes....now my monitor just stays on indefinetly. i check my settings and everything is all the same. i dunno what happened. any suggestions on fixing this?

u got any programs running in the backgroud IM programs, scheduled tasks, etc.

also i would check for spy ware

i checked spyware already (adaware and spybot) and i checked all running apps. all seem to be what it should be...i dunno

everyonce or so often, a lil window will pop up in the task tray for a split second...i keep thinking it's a pop up ad but it's not...i was able to catch a glimps of it when i was using some heavy resources...it's an outlook xp icon

could that be what's causing my management problems?

i googled all of the apps running in my task managment, they all seem to be ok and not the culprit...

anythoughts?
