I heard the announcement on the radio this morning. She is supposedly being paid $45M to pose for them. I guess she finally realized her music was really that bad.

Well, we all knew her music was awful and she was still an entertainer. I was thinking more like a year or two from now when her pop-phase finally fizzled out. I guess we were all wrong.

It does seem high, but if I remember correctly, Playboy is kind of languishing right now. Mags like Maxim and Stuff and FHM are more "acceptable" and show nearly as much . . . and if you're going to go for the nudity end of it, there's tons of free stuff on the net. Getting Britney to pose for them would be a coup and the amount of free publicity/buzz they would get would be tremendously valuable . . . who knows.

I don't know about languishing but you are right about the other magazines. Since they don't show nudity they can be offered in many more outlets. Helps with their popularity.

As for the timing....Brit has always seemed like a good marketer and as such probably knows she'll get more for it than ever. You know, strike while the iron is hot.

Playboy is not the big empire that the E! channel would have you believe. $45 million is way more than they can afford to pay unless it is worked out as some sort of deal. If she is in it it will be a huge seller. If they give her a piece of the action and are making some aggressive assumptions about worldwide sales (oh yeah, she would be in all the internation editions as well) then you can get to the headline number. But when all is said and done I seriously doubt she'll get paid that much for posing. Not that much money is there.

Will I buy it? Hell, it is going to be delivered to my door. I've had a subscription for years. :king:
