View Full Version : X-Men - not gonna be good, but everyone's still gonna go anyways!

I honestly don't expect much from this flick, but as a service to my adolescent years, I am obligated to go.
The one I'm really waiting for is Coyote Ugly. Whoo-ee, August 4, counting the days now! The movie itself will probably be horrendous...and I'm okay with it!

Of course x-men is going to suck thats how all of the summer action flicks are. But of course we all see them :P

could be a blessing or a curse...movie news...

"Meanwhile back in the real world, a certain Bruckheimer flick has hit a bit of a snag - with less than two months before its scheduled release, the female barkeep drama "Coyote Ugly" is supposedly undergoing a full week of reshoots to overcome some minor problems that have cropped up in the editing process."

oops. girls cant do anything right! http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/tongue.gif (kidding)

Well I am hoping X-men will be decent, but at least they got Professor X right, I man jeez there is no other person that I can think of that would make a better X than Patrick Stewart.

And even if the movie sucks, we still get to see a preview for Coyote Ugly http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

I love X-men. I used to spend every dollar I had buying comic cards and comic books. I am going to watch it this weekend. One thing is for sure. X-men will blow away Pokemon any day.

pennypinch
07-11-2000, 12:11 AM
Oh, wow I went to Perfect Storm...BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I really didn't like it. However, for pure visual spectacle, it wasn't bad, when compared against the mindless M:I 2 et al. But how many times do I have to see Mark Wahlberg and George Clooney get hit by a wave? Plus, the story was boring-est. You know a movie was good when you don't even notice that your bum is sore. I was painfully aware about 15 minutes in, and stayed that way throughout.

i thought Scary Movie was kinda lame... All the good stuff was mostly seen in the preview.. There was a few good laugh but overall it wasn't that good of a movie.. the Patriot and Gladiator were pretty good movie for this Summer.

I just read on dailyradar.com that Xmen was really really good...

I predicted that based on my movie-advertising model (the more a movie is advertised , the more it sucks), I thought Xmen was going to blow chunks, but now I'm confused...

but I don't want to be elbow to elbow in a crowded movie theather either...so I'll wait a bit...

I think M:I2 wasn't packed because people had the feeling it was going to suck big ones. They were right.

Common X-men can't be THAT bad....It's being directed by Brian Singer, the guy who did The Usual Suspects. I'd be pretty impressed if Brian Singer could screw up the X-Men...

And why would you POSSIBLY wanna watch Coyote Ugly?!?! If you guys all wanna watch it early, just go rent Cocktail. It looks like the same freaking movie.

Tsk Tsk spigidygak! Don't you know Tom Cruise is very self concious about his jublees?

Anyway, I'm currently working at a movie theater (until i can get another job, which I so dearly wish to do) and i'm going to watch x-men thursday night. I'll tell you guys how it is.

pennypinch
07-13-2000, 08:32 AM
Frankly, I doubt C.U. will have the same emotional development as Cocktail...and I say, WHO CARES!! Have you seen the promo posters? The commercials? The full length trailer? This is going to be the greatest movie of all time, and the traditional movie things are going to totally suck.

AJ
07-13-2000, 09:15 AM
i dunno if I could sit THROUGH coyote ugly. Girls can't make up for a BAD movie...Charlie's Angels is gonna suck ass, I know it...

Denise Richards almost made the last Bond unwatchable, and she's hot.... what are a bunch of bad actressses gonna do to a NON ACTION movie????????

Booyamos
07-13-2000, 02:26 PM
I heard that X-men was still in editing until yesterday (wed) cause they still weren't done with the final touches. The same thing happened with Saving Private Ryan, they finished it on the thursday before the movie, so some of the theaters got their copies late and didn't have the usual 12 noon shows on friday. But X-men is gonna rule! Boo ya grandma!

MY GOD! They F*#ked up the X-MEN! They might as well called the movie "wolverine" That's all it's about. They turned the x-men into a bunch of sissy wimps. And I can't believe they made wolverine into a pedofile! I don't want to give anything away, but you'll understand once you've seen it.

All-in-all, this movie sucked, it didn't stay true to the x-men. the only good thing about this movie was the special effects.

X-Men was great. The action was top-notch and the plot was suffecient. If you think that Wolverine was a pedofile from watching that movie there is something wrong with your perception of what was going on.

Isn't Magneto's name Magnus in the comic? They called him Eric in the movie. Hope the next movie they come with will be better. There was a review that said this was even better than the Matrix! (Yeah Right!!)

X-Men is my favorite movie of the year!!!!

For those who didn't think it stayed true to the comics, you're right. However, this is a different medium than comic books and the writers and directors wanted to make a movie that was enjoyable not only by X-Men fans, but by those who don't know who the hell is Cyclops! They are going to keep the names and traits of all the characters, but screw with their histories. Don't expect to see the Dark Phoenix Saga on the big screen.

But that movie was great!!! I'm going again tonight!!!

Oh btw, if someone could get me those movie banners, I would pay big money!!!! =)

Booyamos
07-19-2000, 11:12 AM
Ya I saw it opening night, and man I loved it, gonna go see it again this weekend. The only thing I was wondering about was where was Gambit? ha maybe they will throw him in the next one, but overall I thought it was really good, the histories of the characters were a little bit different but pretty well adapted to for it. I wonder if they are gonna have rogue get her flying powers later on, I don't remember who she gets them from but she drains all of someone's powers.

And correct me if I am wrong but in the comics didn't Wolverine have all of his bones replaced my adamantium, not just surgically installed? Ha then didn't magneto strip the metal out of him later on, I don't remember, damn should go digging through some of my old comic books.

But ya I have seen lots of people stealing those banners, I want one and at the movie theater by me they have 7 of them hanging up by those little office paper clip things, so I will figure out how to get one eventually.

Hey juss came back frum Comic Con International here in San Diego. I was talkin to sum of the Marvel insiders and they told me that all of the actors are being contracted to star in the next x-men movie. Plus more of the characters u wanted to see.

Gambit comes later in the story and Im sure he will be in the sequels (and there will be sequels) But i thought the movie was great, although they didnt delve deeply into the charactor development but they got Cyclops right :-)I am looking forward to the next X-Men movie!

I understand that before the first movie was created all the major actors signed up for two sequels. But that was only if the first one made phat $bank$. I don't think there is anything to worry about there. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

?!?!?! Rates as well as MI:2?!?! I beg to differ. At least X-Men was X-Men. MI:2 was massacared by that damn John Woo. Too much action no high tech gadgetry and witty story like the true Mission Impossible should be.

X men was surprisingly good...i mean one can only do so much for a movie (effects and all) as opposed to a comic book. So what they did with the movie with effects ans all was great. Wolverine was the star of the movie and Jean Grey, Storm were a good cast. I think that the Beast and Angel should have been in it, since they are the orignal members as well.

storm was not cast well at all, thank god she only had a couple of lines. i hope instead of doing a sequel they just do a wolverine movie even though i thought the movie was sufficient. they can only do so much with the first movie because they have to introduce the characters to the new audiences somewhat, but having to do that really screwed up the movie.
