The GS unit I work with are organizing a "cookie deployment" for the end of the month. The girls bake cookies and we send them to the guys and gals overseas.

Most of the guys I know are due back in June, too soon for them to enjoy cookies. IF you know anyone (LK, I know you do) who is currently TDY or deployed and would like to recieve cookies and well wishes, PM me their address and we will take care of it.

If you don't know anyone, but would like to help us (costs for postage, toiletries, etc.) let me know and I will send you an address to send a check or MO to the GS troop directly.

thanks

Just bumping up for the first (and last) time.

We are sending out at the end of May so if you are waiting for an addy or whatever, lemme know and we will make room for whomever.

Thanks again :) The girls really enjoy making the cookies and doing this for the troops. I will prob find this thread again come the holidays (that is when we normally send out cookies). This is the first "spring deployment" and are testing the water to see if we will continue with a second batch next year. Again, thanks.

Just a sidenote. I have friends that are there, and there are few rules as to what you can send them. I don't remember all the rules, maybe someone knows them. The only one I can remember is just don't send anything with fragrances. They love magazines, and quick small packaged items, beef jerky is the huge winner.

Thanks baggio. :) Our troop consists of mostly dependents of military families. I think that is why we hold this project so near to us.

There is a list and also, that is why we can't just send them to "any US soilder". We have to send them to specific men and women.

IF you would like your friends to recieve a box from us, PM me their addy and I will make sure they recieve cookies Most of the time, it's enough to share with anyone they work with. We are trying to get a donation of jerky to go with the cookies that they are baking. :D

The USS John C Stennis just left for depolyment on the 24th, there are many many guys on the ship with no one I will get a few of there names if you would like? Also there are some wonderful groups in your local community that help alot I choose to not go that route when giving items I don't feel they go to the proper places but that is me. Whenever I send my husband care packages I always send way more then needed and it goes around to all the men is his shop. I thank you so much for all your help and support I think support has been fading off at a fast rate.

Not a problem at all donnar! We do send an abundance out in each box. Audie and I personally baked 43 dz cookies! And I can tell ya, I don't want to see another cookie until Christmas! But it is a good cause and the girls feel good when they get thank yous and some even include pictures! (it's not a requirement to send a thank you to recieve cookies)

We are sending out June 1st and right now, last count I heard was only 8 or 9 addresses collected. so we are looking RATHER good in having plenty of cookies to go around.

The girls would like to thank the support they recieved from everyone here.

This is just HALF of the cookies sent. They had fun baking and sending them. The girls will be doing this again at the holidays :)

And I thank you all too :)

Looks like it was a great success. :)

There is a country song called, "Letters From Home" that makes me cry every time I hear it. This is a good thing you all did...
