Well I am bored at work, so I thought I would just post my thoughts about cartoons. The cartoons now adays are just not as good as they used to be, my favorites are:
1. Transformers
2. GI JOE
3. Voltron
4. Thundercats
5. X-men (not as old but still good )
Yep there is a debate between me and my friends about what is the best, I personally say Transformers all the way, they just rule. Tell me what you think.

oooo! a very good topic, worth joining. a topic my friends and i still participate in, even though we are MUCH more mature now...heh!
1) transformers is definitely STILL my favorite.
2) robotech has to be up there as well (however, if you try to watch robotech now, you'll see all the romance/mushy parts and go 'how did i miss that when i was little?')
3) silverhawks/thundercats
4) he-man
5) GI-Joe (except for the fact that their aim was soooo bad, they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!)
as for cartoons now-a-days. actually, i'd have to disagree with you on that one.
*****) simpsons! need i say more?
1) the tick. if you haven't seen it, SEE IT!
2) beast wars/beast machines - at first i disliked it b/c i thought it was a complete rip off of transformers. but then i found out that the creator was a big Transformers fan, and base the complete story on it, i watched it, and it really did the old show justice. basically, even tho the "transformers" aren't as cool. the story line is awesome, and you get used to the graphics.
3) batman beyond, histeria, freakazoid (even tho they don't make them anymore) are all good cartoons, i believe.
4) did i mention pokemon? no? GOOD!

Oh man I can't believe I forgot about the simpsons... They rank up there with the rest, that is one of my favorite shows now.
Ok so The Simpsons and Transformers are the best shows ever.
Oh ya the family guy is a great show too, man that show cracks me up, along with southpark of course.

Macross
I did not miss any of the "mushy" stuff. in fact, the "mushy" stuff is what made it even more interesting and what set apart from all the other bland cartoons that a 9-10 year old was forced too watch.
btw, Misa is cuter than Linn Minmei

Hehe, Transformers all the way. Still have OP and Bumble Bee among my 112 collection hehe.
Voltron was a close second. Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Beavis and Butthead, Simpsons, and Muppet Babies have to be in there. Probably cuz I look like a Gonzo http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif

I think hands down everyone would agree The Simpsons is the best ever?
but in terms of older kids cartoons, I liked Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters (i'm part of Gen. Y, dont forget)

Oh, dude, I can't believe someone made a reference to Silverhawks...did they even ever make an episode?!
Thundercats was great, if short lived. I really liked the sort of gothic horror look to Mum-Ra and his house.
Simpsons and Family guy, while two of the best shows on TV, don't really qualify as cartoons. I mean, I can't imagine watching them on a Saturday morning as I sugar load with cereal.
Transformers was pretty great too, but I just wish they stopped focussing on the crappy guys. I mean, really, who was more ineffective as a right hand man than Starscream? OK, maybe Beastman of He-Man fame, but they were two totally useless lackeys. You'd think they'd get demoted after a while. And bumblebee...jeez, I remember wishing he'd just get captured and killed immediately by the bad guys.

there was a catoon back in the day called (i believe) snorks - little talking things that looked like people with snorkels attached to their head. i used to love that cartoon for some reason, and thundercats rocked also, along with go-bots!! hehe.

Ya my friend just got a GI JOE t-shirt as well, his just hast he GI JOE logo on it though. I myself just recieved my optimus prime t-shirt, great stuff. But I barely ever see people wearing that type of stuff, guess it is just for us old people who used to watch the shows.
Oh ya someone said something about the smurfs... wasn't there just one girl in the entire town? damn she must have been a slut... ha ha ha lol.

Snorks sucked, SilverHawks were awesome, Simpsons are hilarious, Thundercats made money off of me. I've always wanted an Optimus Prime toy but never got one, neither did I get any of the cool GI Joe vehicles http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif

Transformers, smurfs, snork, voltron, silverhawk, flintstones, Jetsons, MASK, SECTION Z, thunder cats
and of course SIMPSONS.. oh yeah LOONEY TUNES..old school.

I gotta go with Robotech here and then Transformers. I also think Batman Beyond is the best cartoon out right now. But the first anime I can recall was one called Star Blazers. Anybody remember that? That was the first cartoon that I would watch religiously.

Which one? Spiderman? Spiderman and his amazing friends? Fox's Spiderman...has there ever been a bad spiderman cartoon?
No order:
Transformers
Robotech
The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse
The Ed Grimly Show
SuperFriends Super Powers
Thundaar the Barbarien (hey, I'm Gen X)
The Real Ghostbusters - anyone remember why they were called the REAL ghostbusters? Cause Filmation did a rip off version that they syndicated first.
The Tick. I have all those original comics, and an autographed omnibus of the first 12 issues. As good as the cartoon was, those first 12 comics were better.
g-force - the 'redone' version from a few years back was a travesty
starblazers, both seasons
Today, I'd give the nod to Batman Beyond, though Jackie Chan looks kinda cool, as does Beast Machines.
Those that sucked -
silverhawks - this company did a lot of crap that looked good, but the stories were just stale...heck, they stole plots from each other.
Voltron - great concept, but about the worst storylines in the world! Besides, I was mad they had Voltron 1 and 3, but never Voltron 2. Toys were cool though.
Thundercats - oh give me a break! baaaaad dialogue!
He-Man and She-ra. Hated those, and the toys my brother had. My micronauts were waaaay cooler.

I hope you don't mean Southern Cross and Mospeada.... they blow. The animation and mechs just aren't as crisp and the storyline just isn't tragic enough.
But... If you meant Macross 2, the movie/6-episode series that was based on a parallel world (Sylvie Gena & Hibiki <--- main characters) then it's a whole different stories. The series featured imho the most powerful UN Spacy mech, the Metal Siren. Anyone know if that mech was ever available as a toy?

I think He-Man was the best cartoon. Coming in pretty close though is Thundercats, Voltron, and Tom & Jerry. But seeing He-Man and sometimes She-Ra kick Skeletor's a$$ was the coolest.

Though purists would kill me for daring to refer to Japanimation (anime) as a cartoon, I will anyway.
I love America, and I love American cartoons, but preeeeetty much any anime slaughters an american cartoon, no contest. I personally like M.K. Rayearth, Gundam Wing, and Sailormoon (it should be noted that if you're making judgements about these shows based on seeing them overdubbed with English, I agree with you - they're horribly horribly butchered and bad - unless you see the originals. Simply awesome. Really, you all should watch the Sailormoon R movie and then just *TRY* to tell me that shows sucks ;p Well, actually, you really should watch the first season before you watch the movie, or you'll be confused.
OH, and NOBODY mentioned Sonic the Hedgehog!. No, I'm not talking about that ridiculously moronic over-cartoony version, I believe that abhorrent little piece of garbage is called "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog", but in the olden days there was one that aired Saturday mornings on ABC. Unfortunately, the show ended with a cliffhanger due to the fact that ABC felt the need to come up with alternatives to fight against FOX's evil Power Rangers (DAMN YOU Power Rangers!). So, at any rate, I have all the episodes in RealMedia format if anyone's interested.

Simpsons, but who cares. Everyone knows that:
Tom & Jerry (It was just as funny listening to the sound
effects from the next room [Crash! ,Crack!, "WHOAAOAOAOAOAO
OAOAOAOAOAOA!!!!!!"])
Mighty Mouse, the New Adventures (the one Bakshi did)
Any other Mighty Mouse, for that matter
Underdog
Colonel McBragg (remember this short, wedged between Tenessee Tuxedo and UnderDog cartoons?)
Ren & Stimpy (check out his latest stuff at http://www.spumco.com)
The Herculoids
Grape Ape
Transformers
G-Force
Dungeons & Dragons
Jabber Jaw (A bipedal, air-breathing, Curly-impersonating shark that drummed in a band with teenagers. What were they smoking when they came up with this?)
Popeye
Damn, I was a cartoon junky!
