Yes, if someone says no, ask them how long it's been since their last relationship.

Whenever someone asks me this question I usually think of Sam Kinison's covers of "Are you Lonesome Tonight?" and "Wild Thing".
Everyone's got some kind of Wild Thing that went through our lives and made it hell. Because eveyone's had one, you, me, nobody likes to lose! And you know she's out there, laughing at ya, I dont care if it was last week or third grade, someone broke your heart, what was her name?
Wild Thing!
I'll never forgive you!
How do you live with yourself?
You never loved me!
You used me!
I hope you slide under a gas truck and taste your own blood!
Why didnt you tell me you were a demon from hell?
You deserve the men your gonnna meet, you loser!
Railroad bums, transients, out-of-work guys
Guys that are gonna use you like you used me!
Guys that are gonna take money out of your purse and crawl out a window!
oh ohhhhhhhh!
Whats her name?
Yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
:D
I won't ever be too far away to feel you, and I won't hesitate at all, whenever you call...

Depends on your definition of the words love and love.

what does that have to do with it?
I've noticed that everyone that just broke up is still bitter and they say no, it's not better to ... and almost everyone thinks it is better(if they've been out of the relationship to get over the bitterness and whatnot)

I don't think bitterness has anything to do with it. I think the pain and the realization that you wasted one of your most valuable resources--time--on someone you will probably never see again has more to do with it. I also think that people who value the friendship aspect of a relationship more than anything else would have rather forgone the love, and just had a lifetime friend.
For me: No.

sounds like some hairband song...
Late at night I close my eyes
And think how things coulda been
And when I look back
I remember some words you had said to me
It's better to have lost at love
Than never to have loved at all
*I won't forget you baby, (I won't forget you)
Even though I could
I won't forget you baby, (I won't forget you)
Even though I should, yeah*
Sometimes, in my head
I can still see pictures of you
And I laugh to myself
When I think of all those crazy things that we used to do
All the miles come between us
Just between you and me
Oh,
*Chorus* Well,
I should let you fade away
But that just wouldn't be me
Oh, baby
All the miles come between us
Just between you and me
*Chorus*
I won't forget you baby (I won't forget you)
Memories slowly fade
I won't forget you baby (I won't forget you)
And all the plans we made
I won't forget you baby
