View Full Version : How protective are you...

when it comes to your siblings? And what are your rules?
I'm curious because the other day, I was visiting a friend, and she made a big deal out of something that I didn't think would normally be that important. I was outside, talking to her when her youngest sister opened the window and said, "Hey, [insert my nickname here], I missed you!" I said a simple, "Hey, what's up?" and looked back to see my friend completely aghast. She then proceded to chastize me for all sorts of wrongs I can't even begin to imagine. The best I could do was just stand there and laugh... though I think she was being very serious. You see, as it happens, I have been hanging out with her sisters on occassion, without her being present, but it is just buddy-buddy stuff. I can't figure out if she is actually angry at me for that, if she is just being really protective of her sisters, or if she is just jealous of my time hanging out with them.
What's your take on this?

i'm more protective of my brother than my sisters. when i'm playing ball i'm pretty quick to notice if someone abuses him. my sisters are very smart and able to take care of themselves in relationships and i often feel sorry for the guys trying to hook up with them.

I watch my brother's back and he watches mine. We've been that way for a long time.

:boxing: :fal: don't even think about it...
I just have one older sister, so I don't often need to be protective. If I had a younger sister [or younger brother I suppose ] I would be much more protective, I'm sure.

Me and my brothers beat each other up for fun and if anyone messes with one of us, they mess with all of us.

I have two younger brothers, 4 and 12, I am very protective of them. The only problem is I am over age so I can't kick butt anymore. I have to go to the parents and kick their butts.

I have a brother, but I'm pretty much going to kick his ass since he's moving in with me in my one bedroom apartment and he doesn't have a job...
I think, though, that if I had a sister I would be really protective.

i think she was jealous to tell you the truth.
myself, i have 3 brothers and 1 sister. you f*ck with them, you f*ck with me.
i have one brother who is a brute. he is the one who lives in Cali. the last time i met him at the airport he picked me up, put me over his shoulder and carried me down the hall and through the airport like i was his jacket. all in fun.
needless to say he would thump anyone who ever tries to mess with me, and scopes out any man in my life worse than my Dad would have.

I'm the younger brother and I generally take care of myself...
My older brother is like 9 years older and honestly, he really was never around to "protect" me, so I had to do it for self. :D

The bond between relatives, or in this case siblings, who have a genetic link/blood link to you is thicker/stronger than between you and those people who don't share a bloodline with. And i guess water was used as a comparison because it is a less viscous liquid.
does that make sense? :P

I don't like my family, so not very much. Unless some punk ass is screwing with my brother, then I'll stick up for him. Mostly because knocking him around is my job. :D

Simple... blood is hard to wash off after it gets all over you. :hmm: :shifty:
(Thus, I suggest that you use gloves... :shifty: )

I'm adopted, but my brother and I are only a year apart. It was sometimes a little rough growing up, but now that we're adults we are quite close and have covered for each other more times than I count. I have had to help "defuse" a situation more than once for him (usually it involves alcohol and one or more of the many versions of "local dumbass" found in the area we grew up in).

Not to mention the need for the men in your family to cover eachother and present a united front during times of danger lest you be consumed by the one who actually rules the roost. (dear old mom)

Now this is where odd family dynamics come into effect. I am the oldest of 6 with the youngest being 15 years my junior. That said, there are two very distinctly different groups there. I have my fully genetic sister and my half brother and half sister. Then I have my step siblings. Two different households that are never intertwined. I would protect all of them without batting an eye, but I am probably a bit more protective of my genetically related siblings than my step siblings. I would guess that it has something to do with the fact that my full blooded sister has downs so I always have had to be on the lookout for her. Plus, I get in many more disagreements with my step siblings than I do the others. But that could also have to do with the age differences.
Full Sister is -2 years from me
Step Sister is -5 years from me
Step Brother is - 6.5 years from me
Half brother is - 9.5 years from me
Half Sister is - 15 years from me
Thus, I was away at college for a lot of my youngest brother and sisters childhood.
Either way, They all know that if there is a problem I would be there as fast as I could get there and nothing would stop me from helping them.

...but seriously...I have girlfriends(and guy friends that are closer to me than some of my siblings-(two which are complete bitches who have idiot husbands and lame, concieted spoiled kids, so I avoid them like the plague at family functions)...

Well, where to start, I have one step-sister-in-law, dead beat, she caught up witht he wrong crowd. and is mentally no where near as strong as me, 3 years older than me. We have NO relationship.
Younger sister, 10 years old, i helped raise her til 7ish, then she became a snob like my parents. however, i dont blame her, and i will remove from this earth anyONE who touchs her. I pray, i never have to do such a thing, for God will be that person(s) only salvation. for she is the only person on this planet who hears me cry.children are the things of dreams and innocence.
their corruption should never go unpunished.
I had a friend, named Phil, not that we spent 100s of hours together , but we had a bond like brothers, up until last year, and then he betrayed me for someone he knew for 1 year. keep in mind i knew this person for 7 years. secrets and everything. goes to show, blood is USUALLY thicker than water, but anyone can betray you.
as for my family, not close at all.maybe 10 of us talk to one another, and thats only when they need something or a favor.
So i adopted a very good policy, use people. period. dont get me wrong, i value a friendship like Platinum encrusted in diamonds, but i dont have friends. so I do whatever it takes to survive. Hence the screen name,

My siblings can do whatever they want. It's their life to live, I won't judge how they live it. If you f#$k with them and they call me, you will envy the dead. Simple as that.
