As you all may have heard, NBC (GE) just bought Vivendi Universal Entertainment. I just found out today that I won't be laid off, even though there is a lot of overlap of positions/jobs in my group (finance).

Good times, though part of me actually wanted to be laid off so I could take the opportunity to go learn something new.

one of my friends was working at electra in royalities accounting, and she got laid off as part of the merger (with a&m or something). but she landed back on her feet a couple days later at capitol. it's definitely an unstable time in the industry, but fortunately there is still stuff out there.

I'm being moved to a different group. I'll be the only employee from the Universal side in that group. Should be mucho interesante.
