Been happening in my area all night due to a "transformer problem" or so the news says..it hasn't hit my side of town yet but we are due any second. The last time we had a blackout here was in August when the whole East Coast was affected. Does any one remember what caused that big blackout?

wasn't it the heat? I remember that one. I predicted 9 months later we'd have a wave of kids born in that area.

I think it was a transformer in like Ohio or something that went bad and the surge jumped networks and affected everybody. As for a rolling blackout, I don't see how it'd be a rolling blackout since those are system instituted blackouts that are meant to kill demand.

I"m only going buy what was on the News Special Alert thing-it said ROLLING BLACKOUTS..and gave the area's' that would be affected and the approximate time...I finally got hit about 1:30 this morning for about 20 minutes.

Has happened in SoCal yet but I expect it will happen in the summer when the temperature starts rising.

:stupid:
basically, the transformer overloaded, but then it spread because there weren't adequate protections on the systems in other grids.

they had approximate times, and length of downtime for the lines because they apparently know the entire grid for this transformer that is around here pretty well..I can't tell you exactly what actually happened to the thing because all the tv report said was that they were "fixing it"...
