How would you feel if posting to these forums could earn you money? The operator of Digitial Point's forums has started a hack for these type of forums that allows one to get half the adsense revenue generated from their posts.
Check out the forum and let me know what you think. It is possible that this concept could be a very good thing!
How do you feel about it?

If forums are moderated, then there might be no problem at all. It could drive content up considerably. One should post to bring up an interesting discussion, not just for a need to solve his/her problems. Perhaps only those with 50 or 100 posts should be able to participate after being manually approved. There definitely are cons but there can be considerable pros.

I think that Apex should offer anyone with 8,003 posts or more a job as a deal poster, and thus, share in the site's revenue =).

Whoa whoa, take it easy on the little guy. He's new!He sounds to me like he's got something to sell more than a desire to post as a member. I haven't hear a peep from him except about this revenue sharing stuff. Sounds like a scam.
:shifty:I don't trust new people with bright ideas that will supposedly make me money...:shifty:

Nothing is being pushed on anybody. A conversation is just being developed. Have you even checked out the site in question?
Keep an eye on forums.digitalpoint.com (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/) and see where this "Revenue Sharing" ends up.
For the record... I should definitely NOT be trusted.

seems a little sketchy. somehow, i think if apex saw this as a way to help bring more revenue from these boards (which i would imagine are at best a break-even proposition right now), he'd be all over it. in the absence of that, i'm just going to say.... :hmm:
btw, zen, i have a great new way to make money for you! pm me if you want more information! :P

Seeing as how the site in mention is the very first site to do so, chances are Apex does not even know about it yet.

Update: The site in mention does require a minimum of 50 posts before you are allowed to share in revenue.

Why do you think this is a sales pitch? If everybody was saying "This is a great idea" I would be pointing out all the negatives.
There have been example of people getting paid advertising bucks to do things in the past. Does everybody remember the ad-bar? The problem with that is that it had a pyrmaid type scheme behind it, it didn't have the reputation of Google to go along with it and one got paid for their "Time" using it (not the actuall click-thrus).
If you want this thread to die, simply don't post in it. Nobody is gaining anything monetary from this thread.

Why do you think this is a sales pitch? 1. Your userID is "ThinkBling." If that's not the name of a salesman, what is?
2. You came out of nowhere, and the first posting from you that I've seen on the forum opens with the line, "How would you feel if posting to these forums could earn you money?" If that's not an opening for a sales pitch, what is?
3. I looked at the site you had mentioned as an example. It is a bulletin board that seems to be devoted to web marketing.
So this guy appears from out of nowhere, his only reference is to a site devoted to web marketing, and he asks me if I'd like to make money through the forum. Tell, me, how can I NOT think this is a sales pitch?
If everybody was saying "This is a great idea" I would be pointing out all the negatives.Somehow I find this very hard to believe.

But you're not marketing anything here, right ?

Nobody is gaining anything monetary from this thread. My request for locking was in reaction to your lame update that was obviously meant to bump this thread back up to the top of the viewing list. I have no doubt you would have continued to do this, and may yet, if it is not locked away.
I see no positive feedback in this thread to your offering. Time to move on to greener pastures, dontchathink?
