View Full Version : MacGyver or A-Team?

since we've touched upon the cartoon theme. here's one for those that are "young" enough to remember. what were your favorite 80's shows/sitcoms?

then here's some questions for you. in a pure battle of the brains (cause Mac would definitely lose out in a battle of the brawn)
who would win? MacGyver or the A-team? or maybe the professor?

i'd go with MacGyver. cause the A-team ALWAYS has to have a blowtorch for everything they make. and the professor, has to have coconuts.

Airwolf or Blue Thunder?
Buck Rogers or Battlestar Galactica?
Million Dollar Man or Bionic Woman?

Oh, I pity the foo' that fronts on Mr. T. I don't care how cool a gadget McGuyver could fandangle, Mr. T would just throw something at him and that'd be the end of that battle. A-team, all the way. McGuyver, for all of this technical expertise, never had the style consciousness to come up with the A-Team van.

Haha I saw a hoopty van on the freeway yesterday that looked like a faded a-team van. I remember when I was a kid I lifted that van up at universal studios...or was that K.I.T.?

no, you were right the first time, it was the A-Team van.

and btw, not to be anal, but that's K.I.T.T. with two Ts. (ok, you will impress me if you remember what that stood for.)
you will really impress me if you remembered what F.L.A.G. (the agency michael knight worked for) stood for.

knight rider...ahhhh...another one of my favorites. too bad it was at universal studios that i found out KITT was just a fake. there was another voice that was talking to me than the usual "KITT voice". i asked what was wrong, he said, "i have a cold, a computer virus...haha" man, that broke my heart, and broke all my dreams of ever owning a car that talked back to me and allowed me to turbo boost over any obstacles. sigh. live and learn. good thing santa is real!

Hmm now that is a tough question. McGuyver could make something out of nothing and he was just awesome. Guess I went from Mr. Wizzard on to McGuyver...

But on the other hand A-Team just ruled. Even though it always seemed like no one died in the shows, they would blow up entire towns, but everyone would be ok... hmmm...

K.I.T.T. Knight Industries Two Thousand, heh heh. Knight Rider was cool! David Hasselhoff in his pre-Babe watch days. F.L.A.G was it Foundation for Law and Government? By the way, MacGyver would win. No matter how hard the A-Team tried, they could never kill anyone. Anyone else notice that? I remember one show where they shot down a helicopter and the next scene was the guys from the helicopter crawling out of the wreckage....

Hey, at least in the A-Team, the guy survived the crash. GI Joe, the dude would have parachuted out at the first sign of damage.

I'd put my money of the A-Team. As smart as Mac is, he can't compete with Hannibal and Murdoch hehe.

Damn, The Rock beat me to posting what KITT and FLAG stood for hehe. I'm still working on the turbo boost thing so I can jump slow cars on the 405 hehe.

But since the original post said sitcom, I have to say Whos The Boss was awesome. I started off liking the show, but towards the end we all know why we watched it....OK, now I feel pathetic. 1 year with no girl, argh!

With the choices, I would have to say MacGyver. He could make anything out of Gum and the foil rapper http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

And the best butt!!!! http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif

But what about the Greatest American Hero??
LOL

I found a site that has the theme to A-team, MacGyver and Knight rider (just wav format)... but I don't know how to link just to the files off the page (if it is possable-- <I am just learning html>)

So anyway... http://members.tripod.com/~clockj/webdoc3.htm

MacGyver always had duct tape with him. He would use that on everything.

I liked both shows. It was always interesting to see what both would come up with. What kind of modified car the A-Team could make, or what kind of solution to a life-threatening problem MacGyver could think of with what he had on him.

On the other comparisons... I LOVED Airwolf. I always waited for the moment when it did its famous rolling manuevers in the sky and made that noise that it did.

That is a tough call but I think A-Team is gonna get my vote. One question though...how the hell did Hannibal, an old white haired dude, get all the girls? what the hell is up with that? haha

impressive, most impressive!

here's the million dollar question, what did K.A.R.R. stand for?

ahhh yes, the Greatest American Hero, that was great as well.

Anyone used to watch Silver Spoons? Different Strokes?

What you talking about Willis? hahhaa

Although Airwolf didn't have as much of a cult following I still loved it. I would love to have me one of those little beasties. Next time I see the LAPD involved with a police chase I would just pull up behind suspect and let off a few rounds of the cannon hehe. I guess a Nighthawk is much more advanced today though....

Heh, just thought of another cool show..anyone see that show "Junkyard wars"? it was basically an hour show buildin stuff outta nothing (which is what mac and a-team were all about). I think they only made about 4 of these shows..but they were sooo sweeet. They had to build a car that went in water and land, build a device to lift a car outta the water, make a car without using wheels...get the idea? comment if u saw it.

Some random trivia.....
K.I.T.T.'s voice is supplied by the teacher on "Boy Meets World." First time I heard him, I thought I recognized the voice, but couldn't nail it. Then I watched a Knight Rider episode, and it hit me. Anyways, I think that there should be a channel just for shows like Knight Rider and Airwolf. Man, I miss those shows......
Remember that episode with K.A.T.T.? The white vette with a bad attitude, probably my fav...
