i stayed up until 6 this morning watching tv. my son comes in at about 7:30 crying because his "pee thing" hurts. i'm like, yeah yeah. it will be ok. he settles down and goes to sleep next to me.

so this afternoon we get home from church and he takes a leak and come out crying to me. again "daddy my pee thing hurts."

i said ok, let me take a look at it. i look at it and **** ME! his penis had tear on the top of it where it attaches to the glans (head). holy ****. it's not bleeding or an open wound, it just looks like it would hurt an incredible amout. poor kid. he prolly had an erection during the night and it just ripped.

have you ever heard of this happening? if he's still in pain this afternoon i'm calling the doctor. maybe he can give him a local anethetic or something. i feel so bad for him. he's asleep right now and i don't want him to have another erection while he's napping and wake up screaming.

Ow :(

No, no tear on Josh ever. But he's at the stage right now that occasionally he'll tell me his bottom itches. He's been getting awful bugbites (looking at them now, we're thinking he may be getting fleas outside? Our cats don't have em, Scott & I haven't had any bites, but... Anyway, so twice now, I have had him pull his pants & undies down to check (he's got a lot of the bites in the creases where his legs meet his hips, so I just assumed...). Both times, he has had an erection. I just tell him that it'll stop itching soon and to get his clothes back on.

I have no f'ing clue how to deal with him as he begins to get older. lol

cheapie, could you tell him it is a penis and not a pee-thing?
i know it sounds cute, but i think kids need to call it the right name.
boys have a penis, and girls have a vagina. they will learn the slang soon enough :P

and i don't think local anesthesia will do much good because it wears off soon AND do you really want a needle stuck in there on top of it?

call the ER and explain it to them and they can offer advice or does your Pediatrician have someone who covers for them on weekends, and can answer questions?

C'mon Nic... at that age "pee pee" is still "acceptable". Now if they are still saying that at age 10, then you might have a problem. :D

ok welfareloser. hehe...jk. i call it a penis and have actually corrected him a couple times. i think he just mixes the function with the name. i'm just afraid that if i give it too much attention he'll go up to some guy and ask him about his PENIS!!!! in a loud voice.

he is doing ok right now. i think it's only painful when he messes with it. i'm def gonna call the doctor in the morning. ouch.

ok, so he has a boo-boo on his pee-pee.
don't they say not to speak to children like you are talking baby talk, but to teach them the correct terms so they will learn them.

i dunno.......what do i know? :P

actually i agree with you. i talk to him like he's big kid/adult. our friends have commented on it before. austin's got a great vocabulary. he usually uses the correct words for things. i think it's because we work hard on it and don't use words like boo boo very much at all. he's pretty far ahead of most kids his age.

of course he's kind of a puss when it comes to climbing stuff, jumping, and stuff like that.

aren't we getting away from the topic? Did he get circumcised? Did it ever separate from the head? If not seems like those microfusions are now getting stretched and it's just now detaching.

yeah, he was curc'd. i think it might have just been seperating. i'll take another look tonight, accompanied by wails of tears i'm sure, and see exactly what is going on. i can post pics if you'd like. :puke:

Do you have any Bacitracin? It's the stuff the doc gives you to put on a circumcision. If it's a scratch or a tear, anytime he urninates, it might splash on it and 'burn' a little, the ointment will help protect against that and plus keep any germs out of it.

Don't use neosporin (sp) not the same stuff.

Side note:

Cousin was about 4 or 5. He had just learned to ride his bike and he crashed somehow. My aunt and I were in her kitchen and he comes in CRYING!! And I mean CRYING!! He had cut, somehow, to this day we don't know how, his sac :(

She took him into the ER and everything was okay after a couple stitches.... but OW!

My son Ben gets erections all the time and we have never had a problem like this, my olny guess would be he strached it some how. Good luck this must sucks for him and you I hate seeing my kids in pain and notknowing what to do about it

i just looked at it closer and it looks like the glans is just trying to seperate from the other skin naturally. it was far less painful for him so i think he'll be ok.

I would still err on the side of caution and take the kid to a doctor. You really don't want to jeopardize the future of a very important part of his body.

All in moderation...

At this age... kids will embarrass you in a second, so pretty much you have to watch EVERYTHING you say to them.

Still... there's plenty of time to teach them the "right" words for stuff... but at this age, you can just let that one slide. :D

So years ago, I'd post in the newsgroups a lot asking for advice, or asking questions. I figured the message would disappear in a few days. Well, thanks to Google, my messages, which sound far more stupid than I would have imagined, seem to be living on forever.

Anyway, I wonder if the same thing will happen in this message board. In 20 years, your son is going to find this and realize that you told everyone about his pee-thing ;)

j/k!

cheapie i hope he is ok.

a friend of mine had a similar problem when he was a teenager. turns out his frenulum("banjo string" the brits call it) was too short and when he got an erection it was super painful. long story short, he ended up having to get it snipped. farking OUCH!

and girls have a vagina.
While that's true most people mean vulva when they say vagina.
