Driver Backs Up Into Baltimore's Inner Harbor
POSTED: 12:07 pm EDT June 14, 2004
BALTIMORE -- Baltimore City police said a car went off the pier behind the ESPN Zone late Monday morning with the driver still inside.
Police said shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, a man was dropping off a passenger behind the Inner Harbor restaurant. Witnesses said the man began backing up and backed straight into the harbor.
The driver was able to free himself before his car completely submerged. Two kitchen workers from the ESPN Zone pulled him from the water.
The driver was uninjured and crews are working to retrieve the car from the water.
This happened like, right accross the street from us, so we were all glued to the window, watching them getting the car out, which they just accomplished.
pretty funny.
